In the 1871 census William was born in Surrey Lambeth.
I can;t read Fanny's

Fanny was born in Felpham Sussex and William in Birmingham Warwickshire.
I think Williams occupation says Farriers Man, not sure if thats correct though.
The visitor on the 1871 census was also born in Felpham Sussex, makes me wonder if he's a relative of hers, brother maybe? I'm a bit stuck now. Cant seem to find the first marriage record.
Fanny is 58 in the 1871 census, I think I said 52 earlier. I'm getting the 2 Fannys confused. I so wish they wouldnt double up all the names.

Does it say (something ending in ex) Feltham.....notice there is a visitor William Marshall staying with them and he is born in the same place as Fanny

I am getting the Fanny's confused too and also the Trazars. I can not work out how the step daughter is the same age as the mother.
I am also really wanting to know why they were in France for so long when they were not born there. What reasons did people travel to another country way back then?

Ah ok I get it. We had the original age of Fanny wrong, makes sense now.
Do we know what Fannys maiden name was? I cant seem to see it anywhere.

No, cant figure out Fannys maiden name. I'm kind of wondering if she was Marshall because of the visitor they had in one of the census, maybe he's her brother. No real way to tell for sure.
I cant find a marriage record anywhere for the first marriage.
The second marriage was in 1866, I guess if you bought a copy of that you might get some extra details.

I have been looking for her maiden name too.
These are 4 possibilities from family search.
Fanny Boyle.......4-8-1839 Felpham....parents Charles and Charlotte
Fanny Boiling born 1839 Felpham.....but I Found her in the 1861 census as a servant unmarried.
Fanny Wood....1838 Littlehampton (very near Felpham)
Fanny COurt 1838 Littlehampton....parents Henry and Lucy.
I plan on seeing if we can eliminate them.

No wonder I can not make any sense of it.
You only sent me the 1871 census.
I just found the only marriage of a William Hance to Fanny was in 1845 and her name was Fanny Munt....in Newington Surrey.
