I heard on the news another 2 Australians died in Bali. Why do Australians go there? We have better places to holiday at right here at home!
We have great food, fantastic beaches and many beautiful places to go to so why do Aussies feel the need to go to third world countries when we have everything here?
We are fortunate to have the best of everything why risk it all in a country with standards far below ours.
If I were given free flights + free cash to go to Bali I would decline! No way would I go there under any circumstances.
Support Australian jobs.
Support our economy.
Spend your money here.
Holiday our wonderful country.
How many more Australians have to die over there before people wake up?

Apparently it was due to food poisoning after eating fish. I wonder if it was Ciguatera poisoning?

I don't think that ciguatera is fatal.

If people feel the urge to experience a different culture, what's wrong with Fiji? the people are warm and friendly . I too would never go to Bali .....if you paid me.

i'd go elsewhere . too many australians. . thats not a holiday, a holiday o'seas helps avoid australians.

I cant comment now that I'm planning a trip to Thailand, but to be honest there's a thousand other places I'd prefer to go. My husband is visiting a friend in Laos and you have to spend at least 1 night in Thailand to get there, so we decided to extend it and both spend a few nights there together. Its cheap enough.
One of my biggest concerns is that i will get sick from the food on the first day and spend the whole time in the hotel room.

It is the same reason some go to Fiji, the US, Canada, Thailand.....................

I've heard some people say it's because it's cheap.
It's not at all inviting to me especially given the current state of relations between Australia and Indonesia.
We have so much diversity in Australia .My dream is to see more of it.
