I heard on the news another 2 Australians died in Bali. Why do Australians go there? We have better places to holiday at right here at home!
We have great food, fantastic beaches and many beautiful places to go to so why do Aussies feel the need to go to third world countries when we have everything here?
We are fortunate to have the best of everything why risk it all in a country with standards far below ours.
If I were given free flights + free cash to go to Bali I would decline! No way would I go there under any circumstances.
Support Australian jobs.
Support our economy.
Spend your money here.
Holiday our wonderful country.
How many more Australians have to die over there before people wake up?

These are the things that don't add up to me, if they arrived at the hotel from Ubud already sick, why were they eating dinner? Food poisoning usually doesn't kill you in four hours, if at all, you usually die from dehydration and organ failure many hours later. If it was food poisoning it's more likely to have been something ingested earlier in the day?
That has me wondering too mugsy. I've never heard of a food poisioning virus or bacteria that will kill you in 4 hours (especially a healthy adult). Now that all those medications have been found in thier room, I'm starting to suspect they were poisoned by one of those.

I heard or read that they died because of asphyxiation, rather than poisoning. That points to an allergic reaction to something,
Unless I was at death's door, I don't think I would buy drugs over the counter in that area.

well IMO the food isn't to blame. If you have an allergic reaction to food its almost instant, it doesn't take four hours.
If they were feeling ill, why didn't they go to the hospital?

We all know how accurate the media is with reporting.
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story
What facts are people ignoring? What mistruths have been reported?
Most likely the pair got food poisioning (toxic fish) or had a reaction to one of the medicines in their room? Which one that was remains to be seen.
I haven't seen anyone discussing anything about the case that is not 'fact'... ie; what they ate or what medicines were found in their room.
I was paraphrasing Mark Twain with "Don't let the facts" etc
I also was not suggesting that mistruths had been published. Nor that
people were ignoring facts
I'm merely saying that not all things reported in any story are truthful.
All newspaper articles should be viewed with a grain of salt.
As I stated earlier, all of this is speculation

Bali dead family want speculation to end
That's enough for me then

It is human nature to speculate in cases like this, I didn' think that would surprise anyone. Commonly accepted that you don't believe everything you hear/read in the news as well.
In this story what they had for lunch & dinner is confirmed (receipts were found for the meals) and what medications were found in their room have been detailed by police. There were also some drinks (soft) taken for testing with the pills.

In an Indonesian newspaper it said the mother was taken to a clinic 20 mins away. The daughter was also taken to that clinic 20 mins away first, then taken 80km away to a hospital (one that has a good reputation internationally).
Sad that what ever happened to these two, that if it could have been treated, that they didn't get treatment in time.

Update on this case:
An Australian tourist claims to have fallen ill at the same restaurant Yvana and Noelene Bischoff dined at shortly before their deaths in Bali.
Queensland police contacted Bischoff relatives yesterday to advise them a Victorian man came forward after returning to Australia.
The complain may have been made on a different day to when Noelene and Yvana attended the restaurant.
"A gentleman from Victoria got in touch with foreign affairs stating he was quite ill … when he ate at the same restaurant," Kevin Bowe, the brother-in-law to Ms Bischoff, told News Ltd.
"The detective in charge rang my daughter earlier to advise someone else had reported being ill."
Hours after dining at Buddha Bar and Restaurant, Ms Bischoff and her daughter became critically ill in their room at Padang Bai Beach resort in East Bali.
The restaurant refuted claims their food caused the mother and daughter to fall ill.
The Queensland coroner conducted autopsies on their bodies at the family's request.
The cause of death is yet to be determined.
