Coronavirus support package

Coronavirus support package will see businesses get cash payments and tax relief to get them spending

oh, its a 'support package' not a 'stimulus package'

totally different then.

give money to welfare cheats? really?

i can think of at least 1 poster here who will not be a happy camper.

Re: Coronavirus support package

we dont know the future with this

it could petter out in 6 months or it could become an epidemic when winter sets in.

i hope its the sooner not later option.

six weeks ago we thought it was a storm in a teacup

not something we need to worry about.

now our numbers are rising daily

no magic cure has been announced (im sure they are working 24/7 looking for one)

i dont wish panic to set in

bad enough toot papers no longer easily available right?

buying online you say?

only if online systems continue to operate unaffected.

wearhouses need staff, delivery companies need staff.

you dont press 'buy it now' and the item magically sends itself.

how many staff can go offline before business starts to fail?

Re: Coronavirus support package

I was away for three days with no internet, did not watch the news or look at the news paper and honestly I was unaware of anything going on out of the ordinary. I heard something the other day about the virus was not the issue facing the economy but peoples reactions to the virus.

I refuse to share you totally pessimistic attitude re this current situation , I am a glass 1/2 kinda person.  I am also NOT a worry wart, what will be, will be.  In the meantine the government is "trying" to get Au through this and I support their effort/s thus far.

Totally with you there.  Whether I like him or not our PM is doing what he can as are other world leaders.

For some posters they just can't get past the cheap political barbs which already cloud their already skewed vision.

From the ABC link ......."The Government wants its package to be temporary  and offer an immediate boost to the economy, rather than making structural changes to the budget".

So of course financial aid will be expected to change as the need arises.

How.???

Thiose who be still on Newstart but who are starting or short time operating a declarable viable business as defined by the ATO.

One is on the books with Centrelink ( with reporting obligations ) for 3 months even after starting a full time job or business enterprise regardless of qualifying fortnightly for dole money

Is of interest to me as I will shortly be in this dual universe

. There will be one payment per eligible recipient. If a person qualifies for the one-off payment in multiple ways, they will only receive one payment.

P.S I'm glad the unemployed are included this time, but what they really need is for Newstart to be increased.
