i firmly believe if those dieing were say, between 20 and 50 instead of over 65s we would be seeing a totally different public reaction
the younger fitter in the population have decided even if they get this virus, they will get better.
so they are off on their hollidays and out doing stuff they shouldnt be.

The emerging American nightmare should be a wakeup call to any of any age who is not self-isolating - already throughout the whole of continental America 2,489 "care-facilities" have been infected with 2,000+ deaths not publically tallied , the virus spreading coast to coast in six weeks
Youth often do not show symptoms but can spread the virus so are potential grandpa killers and as such need strict compliance with self-isolation

Its probably a case of mixed messages from Government again. This virus situation is moving fast and Governments are making it up as they go along ( or as they would put it ....responding to rapidly changing circumstances )
Initially I,m sure they expected us to be swamped by an out of control monster as has occurred in so many places. ( fair enough assumption too ) This is evident by the large numbers of unused, temporary IC beds, medical staffing etc.
What they couldn't plan for was the exceptional and quick way the vast majority of Australians have embraced social distancing and hand hygiene messages which has seen Australia having one of the greatest successes in slowing the spread of the virus in the world. This has actually brought on the previously unimaginable scenario that we may actually be able to stamp this thing right out in Australia.
Its possible we may not need to rely on herd immunity ( many people getting the virus in a controlled way ) if we can slow the thing right down and keep our borders closed. We then just need to sit back and wait twelve months to two years for a vaccine. Its still going to absolutely smash our economy though.
Not so much the vast majority of people simply ignoring messages, more responding to changing circumstances. One way or another though, we need to have this thing under control soon.....Winter is coming !

What are stage 4 coronavirus restrictions and what could those measures look like for Australians?

you might want to remember, australia has a population of 25 million spread over a very big country.
then look at say New York, which has 20 million just in one city!
much easier to social distance here than there.
once again, pure luck for us.
as we can see, where our most congested areas are, we have our worst results, regardless of anything we the public are doing.
and yep, the vast majority are 'doing the right thing'
but if just 1 does the wrong thing, travels to a uncontaminated area and is carrying the virus. he visits stores to buy food for his holiday, coming into close proximity with many uncontaminated people.
suddenly you dont have 1 spreading the virus, you have maybe 5 or 10, then they come into clontact with 5 or more people....
so as far as i'm concerned, ANYONE not at home, where they actually live should be fined heavily unless they have a darn good reason to not be!
btw, whats the pont of coming here to a holiday house if you cant go out and have any fun anyway?
if any of these morons go anywhere to have 'fun' someones going to see them and either call police or worse, take the law into their own hands!
i know having called in the police and had a luke warm response i prolly wont bother in future.
i'm not a violent person, but who knows what someone else might do.
