Sometimes - just sometimes - it can be really - really offensive.

Re: Coronavirus update

I can understand that some may be offended by it, but unfortunately the truth offends people sometimes.

Its not just the Victorian Andrews Labor government that seems to be following communist China. The whole of Australia is slowly going down the gurgler under the creeping socialist influence. Too many people relying on the state to do everything for them and self sufficiency, ambition, initiative and enterprise slowly draining from our society.

Thats why our living standards and wages are stagnating and going backwards. Too many people taking, not enough people giving. Too many people consuming, not enough people producing.

Family of 4 from Melb visted and stayed in Port Fairy for three days, now they have all tested positive to the virus, goodness who they have given it to during their stay.  Our area is virus free and we would like to keep it that way, so I pleased that Melb has  been shut down, we really need to get this horrible virus under control asap

Unfortunately it seems VIC-gov has a dream-state fixation with China .... awed by Chinese International consumption culture-think and trade successses but doomed to follow down the same pathway, like a rodent mesmorised by a tubby smiling python  - unless enough people unbeguiled snap the State out of lethergy - which is starting to happen thanks in part to NSW

I disagree with that, just having a look  at what other govts and states have sold to the chinese tells me it's not just a Vic problem. Sure we get a lot of Chinese students studying at unis here and a lot of Chinese live here, just as they do in Sydney

it's highly unlikely that we'll be dragged out of our cars or have our doorways welded like we saw happen in China ๐Ÿ˜€

Re: Coronavirus update

So it sounds like the NSW Govt. finally has the permits sorted?

today there are reports that a jetstar flight from Vic landed in NSW last night with no checking of the passengers.

I wonder how many times that's happened?

today we had to queue up to get into our local supermarket.. they'd run out of a few things but were mostly well stocked.

judging by today's traffic, I'd say that most Melburniens were out and about doing last minute things before the lockdown starts

last weekend we went out for dinner with some friends, for the first time in about six months.. I'm so glad we got to do that

I didn't realise Dutton, Morrison and the I.P.A were pushing a socialist/ communist agenda. Thanks for clearing that up, chameleon.

I was reading a newspaper article today that noted that International student education was Victoria's biggest single export earner by far. ( 12.5 billion dollars ). Nothing wrong with that and all power to the education sector for turning one of their strengths into a major income earner for the state. ( and country )

The problem is, like all service industries it is ephemeral. As we have seen, here today, gone tomorrow. We have lost our manufacturing industry, our car industry, quite a bit of renewable forestry, our down steam food processing industry, building materials industries, a lot of our horticulture and labor intensive agricultural industries and much of our mineral processing industries.

Our economy has shrunk to the point where we have very few industries left and most that are still with us are service industries or public service, which just circulate money around rather than actually producing anything of intrinsic value.

We are beaten at every turn by other countries that work harder and smarter and do much more with much less. Unless we can turn the ship around we are doomed to a future of mediocrity and declining living standards, following in the foot steps of the European "PIGS" ( Portugal, Italy Greece and Spain )

I think you probably realise it is not coming from the right side of politics. It is a creeping, swampy stench that is slowly infiltrating many western societies. It includes political correctness, ( people being offended by the truth ), ever increasing numbers of public servants accompanied by falling public service standards, increasing numbers of people reliant on welfare payments, a constant rise in red tape, a decline in personal responsibility, a loss of innovation and initiative, a rise in overt police presence and intimidation, an over emphasis on the importance of people attaining educational degrees, but not the jobs available to use them

The emphasis on immigration but not accompanied with assimilation ( the rise in a separatist, divisionist society ), the talk of social rights, but no mention of social responsibilities, the attack on private enterprise, initiative and self reliance and the advancement of excessive intrusion by the state. And lets not forget, its always some-one else's fault and the government should fix it.

Unbridled capitalism where people are screwed to the floor in an ever increasing demand for corporate profit is a toxic system that only benefits the chosen few, but leftist socialism policy is not the answer. It simply drains the life and energy from a community, reducing it to a barren, empty rotting carcase as seen in the Soviet Union many years ago..
