I read that yesterday was predicted ahead of time to be around the date they expected numbers to peak.

I think, myself, any number under 500 is doing well and realistically, we can expect 1 or 2 deaths per hundred infected, though the deaths don't seem to be immediate, they take about a fortnight to die. So in a couple of weeks, we are likely to have a day when deaths are somewhere between 10 and 20.

Meanwhile, I don't think we will really know if we have turned a corner for another week or so but it is likely to be a gradual process as we went up in numbers so quickly, it will take a while to get transmissions right down.

I've said it before but it is worth repeating. Main problem isn't so much testing, it is getting results of tests to people a LOT faster. If you have a family tested (as happened to my daughter & family) then having to wait 6 days at home is too long.  I'm not saying 2 weeks in iso is too long for those who test positive. Just that 6 days in iso is too long for those who are well with no symptoms. It is asking for trouble & they are getting something like 90% plus of that cohort of people breaking their quarantine, popping out to the shops etc. It needs to be  a 2 day turn around

357 new cases of COVID 19 in Victoria yesterday. The numbers don't seem to be improving much, after more than two weeks in lock down and community transmission is still running riot. Bit of a worry !.

Health care workers and associated people should have been tested every day - yeah I know the expense.... so how much more expense now at stage 3 ?

Congratulations State penny pincher$

Roge it isn't about the expense. If they are tested every day, they could never work. When you have been tested, you have to go into isolation till test results come back negative. For essential workers (health care, teachers etc) that is 2 days.

Yet another example of people thing that Australian law doesn't apply to them.

They seem to think that American laws apply in Australia. Maybe they should move to America. The average IQ of both countries would benefit.

They would reduce the IQ in red states. I'm not sure how blatant, fact denying, anti-establishment views would accord with realism. I'm hoping you could provide some elucidation.

In blue states they would be pigs in [choose your analogy]. And up the IQ.
