As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Doesn't surprise me. Don't have a TV in the lounge, can connect the laptop to the TV aerial and watch live TV but will watch it online later.
You can stream iview to watch live without aerial.

Finally the list has managed to equate with the long one attributable to the Circus and Poor Me and Rudd. (sorry A3)
I notice the date of the document is: OCTOBER 2012 | IPA Review 17. Sorry P007, but A3 will have to have a "talk" with you as Circus times are banned (not very happy ones I gather!).
Thesuggestions are predictable from the IPA, however why reproduce them from 2012 (sorry A3) without research even though as often evidenced here, that is normal.
76 Have State Premiers appoint High Court justices.
Rather interesting thought, considering the process required to change the Constitution. Anyway a referendum would fail.
In conforming with s 72 of the Australian Constitution, the Justices of the High Court and other federal courts are appointed by the Governor General in Council
87 Negotiate and sign free trade agreements with Australia's largest trading partners, including China, India, Japan and South Korea
Hello P007, Australia HAS free trade agreements with China, Japan, and South Korea, with India expected by the end of this year.
This one is "strange" today P007 :93 Abolish the luxury car tax. Why exactly? With the demise of car manufacturing by 2017 what will be the point?
In its 326-page report on Australia's automotive industry, the Productivity Commission (PC) has recommended the controversial luxury car tax (LCT) be scrapped and laws restricting second-hand overseas (grey) imports be relaxed.

The Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JEPA) comes into force today with the same blanket exemptions from Labour Market Testing (LMT) for workers that the Korean Free Trade Agreement has.
This means that all employers in Australia (both Australian and Japanese firms) will no longer have to seek qualified locals to fill vacancies in the skilled trade, nursing and engineering occupations and prove none could be found, before 457s are approved for Japanese workers. From now on LMT is permanently banned in all other 457 occupations.
We still don’t know what is in the China Agreement but it is highly likely they will seek the same conditions, and now it looks like we’ll be signing a similar half-baked deal with India.
Abbott on TV now saying we need more jobs!
