And that's what fasting is about.  It is time to reflect, to honour.  Good Friday is when Jesus died on the cross for us so fasting is a small personal sacrifice.  I realise that it seems illogical to you since you don't believe in the existence of God but hope it makes more sense as to the reasons behind fasting for religious reasons.

I don't find it illogical for any religion. 

What I find illogical is that

a) the majority of people that fast have no idea WHY they are doing it and

b) if you really want to sacrifice in order to reflect/honour then make it a true sacrifice and go without something that is truly important.

Not eating a hunk of steak today is not a sacrifice. It'a a tradition from a time gone by that has no value on our society today.

Yes, and that is what Lent is about. From personal experience, cant agree with you that majority of people do not understand what it is about. 

I dont agree with you that traditions have no value in our society either.   Sadly, a lot of traditions are being lost.  We should try to preserve the ones we have left and that includes both cultural and religious. 

Where I come from, Christmas Eve has a very strong tradition.  It involves not eating meat (plus many other rituals)  You may think that tradition has no value, I strongly disagree.  It is what makes that culuture unique and 'rich'.

Yes, would eat meat on Good Friday, no reason not to. As a child it was only the Catholics that had fish (every Friday then) and Good Friday.

I do not eat meat on Good Friday.

My daughter is with her day for today (10am - 4pm) and the first thing she says to him is "I'm not eating meat today because I am a Catholic.  Fish is ok".  He was like 😮

Given that she can't eat wheat, is fructose intolerant, has nut allergies, intolerant to onions, and a whole other range of things .... I have no idea what he is going to feed her.  And now, no meat.

She's very good, and a great little helper in the kitchen, so hopefully can assist him to make something she's allowed to eat.

I have always found this odd too if Christ is born on the 25th Dec every year how come he keeps dying on a different day each year.

Does anyone even remember the original date he died on before it kept moving?

It's not so much an aniversary of a death but by what i can make out it has more to do with it being a celebration.

Everything connected with it all revovles around the Church calendar.

Easter Day supposedly falls exactly 40 days after Lent, and Lent is supposed to be so many days after whatever, etc. etc.

Just to confuse you even more .....

Christmas Day doesn't really exist at all, not in the way we see things anyway, but if it did it could never fall on December 25 every single year without fail.
