If yes, have you joined the Bathing Bird survey?
All you have to do is record 20 minutes worth of bird watching a few times a week. Good excuse to sit by the window with a cuppa and a timtam
It does haven't to be a flash birdbah, even just a dish of water counts.
You can join here http://root.ala.org.au/bdrs-core/npansw/home.htm .
Perhaps we could have a special birdbath photo thread for the event.

This is not my Birdbath. It belongs to a good friend. I just used the photos I took to make a greeting card for her.
Then I used another photo to make an avatar for her.
This is her Kitten sitting where the birds are supposed to drink.

I was getting lots of birds around until the rain this past few days. Then poof, gone. I have noticed lots of birds flying around, they just don't drop in for a drink.
I wonder if the weather is taken into consideration when giving a specified time span. Does this mean the next week is going to be dry?
Joono, I sit near a window most days and usually notice some movement out of the corner of my eye. I don't think binoculars or "private investigator" lurking behind the bushes is a requirement. Besides they haven't issued the tin badge.
A lot of people are showing rainbow lorikeets in their fountain/baths. I get loads of lorries in the bushes, but they choose to sip elsewhere.

There has been no rain here Lloyds and it's hot so you'd think that the fountain would be getting a good work out. It's disappointing. I have also set up a bird feeder but no visitors so far.
Any tips on how to attract birds to a feeder? I think it's too close to the house but I want to see them, not have it hidden away.

Joono, just be patient, the birds will come. It takes a little while before the birds find a new feeding place where they feel secure and safe.

Oh, btw, I think the black crow on your feeder is not very inviting. Get some pictures of birds and paint your crow some realistic colours. It may help.

Thanks Erica. I hope you are right. I have a box of trill bird seed and a huge bag of black sunflower seeds in the cupboard and another honey stick.
I suppose it just takes one little bird to find it and tweet the news.

Oh, I missed this post! I will have to practice my painting skills. I still have some tins of enamel paint from painting miniatures.

Joono-im with Erica and Deb with this.
Get rid of the crow -dont paint it-remove it.
Im sure with in hours you will get visitors-geez would be scarey
for timid little birds coming in-and spotting that large crow-just saying.........Richo...

It's not that big Richo! It's about the size of a finch. I thought it would be ok because the mother-in-law has one with a metal bird perched on the bowl and hers is used.
I would be sad to cut it off as it's the only one I have 😞

Fair enough-try moving the feeder closer to the drinking fountain...........Richo.
