Thats a bit harsh. It may well apply to plenty of our other elected representatives but Josh Frydenberg seems to be a pretty genuine, decent sort of bloke who is trying to make the best of a very bad situation. Sure the public service / ATO made a major stuff up with the Jobkeeper programme and Frydenberg has had to come out and wear the resulting egg on face, but these things happen in emergency situations like this. ( same as dead people recieving lump sum payments under Labor during the GFC. )
Having said that, I would have liked to be a fly on the wall on Thursday when Frydenberg attended the meeting where the Public servants told him of the monumental stuff up they had made of the Jobseeker programme......I doubt that it was pretty and may have made some of Rudds recorded outburts look pretty tame....

Nah, he was a Banker long before covid came along
I,d probably prefer an ex banker as treasurer, rather than an ex Taxi driver which is what Labor served up for treasurer in South Australia fairly recently..........I know its hard to get your head around, but sadly true. For those unfamiliar with SA state politics, Google Tom Koutsantonis if you dont believe me.

Sorry, missed the double entendra of " Banker " in your post and took it literally. I did look up his history on Wikapedia and it sounds like he has the right qualifications for the job though. I.d still rather his qualifications and experience, than Tom Koutsintonis the taxi driver who became the S.A. Labor state Treasurer.
We may not like these economics / lawyer types, but our federal treasurers do need to be qualified and understand ecenomics at a lot higher level than us plebs on the forums or at the supermarket. As mentioned before, as politicians go I still think Frydenburg is one of the more genuine people sitting at the table.
Frydenberg studied and earned honours degrees in both economics and law at Monash University which included presidency of the Law Students Society[5] before working at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, a large Australian commercial law firm. He subsequently attended University College, Oxford to study for the Master of International Relations degree in 1998 on a Commonwealth scholarship. Frydenberg has also attained a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.[6]

SpoilerAfter 40 years of hard physical work I,m getting tired. I just want to slow down and ease into retirement..... I think I,ve earned that much....... Unfortunately it looks like it wont be happening anytime soon.
On the other side there are millions of people who wish they had not lost their job, my daughter is one of them.

Difficult times for so many people and I suspect it is going to get worse before it gets better. I hope your daughter finds work soon.
