Do you still write/send Christmas Cards?

Having a chat with a few girlfriends ~ talking about all the stuff we need to get done before Christmas and all but 1 said they now don't bother with Christmas Cards anymore.  The common expression was "Who's got the time to sit and write cards these days?"

A few send emails and a lot seem to either send a message on facebook or a big group text.

So I was wondering (other than me...) who here sends Christmas Cards?

Are they another thing that will soon be a "thing of the past" as our lives get busier and busier?

Re: Do you still write/send Christmas Cards?

Soul art ~ Yes I did write my Xmas cards in July/August.  Only got the Xmas letter finished on Saturday but all the cards without letters went out on Fri and the ones with letters were posted yesterday (Sun) so most people should have received their card today or tomorrow at the latest.  I like to get mine out so they arrive as early in Dec as I can.

And I didn't think you ment I was playing puter games.  My hubby and both boys love them but I just don't see the atraction myself.

I still do, I think it's nice to, some people I don't see for months on end and wouldn't see them at Christmas, let's them know I/we are thinking of them. In fact there is only one from our extended family that doesn't, she sometimes throws one at me on the day but that to me is pointless, the day is nearly over, I'd rather have it up with the others before Christmas...Fussy aren't I.

No not fussy I can see your point about that.

We've got 2 cards so far and I am hoping we get a few today - sure beats only finding bills in the letterbox 😉

I still do. I used to buy the cards from the local animal shelter but this year I have personalised ones that have a photo of one of my cats on the front and a photo of the other one on the inside.

Yes, we still send cards, but only overseas.  Sometimes, we do send the electronic kind because they are brilliant on a certain site that we subscribe to.

Best wishes of the season to you and your family Witches*Wol xxx

Re: Do you still write/send Christmas Cards?

I haven't bothered to send cards for years. I only ever send one to my daughters parents-in-laws in the UK because they are obsessed with sending cards and apparently get really offended if they don't receive one back.

Which means I have to buy a card, stand in the queue at the post office, attach the stamp and post it. I'm a Christimas Grump.

I love spending the day with family so I'm not a complete Christmas Grump lol.

But I'm over the hype, the pressure, the crowds, Xmas cards, the heat .. and it doesn't help that the devastation with Mr Ex started on the day before Christmas Eve. Goodness! 3 years ago.

Re: Do you still write/send Christmas Cards?

Oh Cat I am sooo with you there.  I hate the heat, the pressure to buy gifts, the hassle of decorating the house, the pain in the butt of people who haven't been bothered with you all year suddenly saying "OMG We soooo much catch up before Christmas" like the world is going to end if we don't.  Trying to work out the menu required to keep everyone happy etc.

I much prefer Yule in June where we celebrate the pagan way just with good food and family and there are no gifts!
