And I once sent my daughter to a fancy dess party dressed as the Easter Bunny - do you think it may have scarred her for life?

And even worse, I once had to play the part of St Michael in a school play about Joan of Arc. How did I ever manage to  'sort myself out' sufficienty  to later marry a man and have five kids to him?

it was more likely this that upset him rather than twitter... these boys filmed themselves specifically to post on social media

It is understood the UQ branch was disaffiliated by the LNP in December and Wilson Gavin is no longer a member of the party.

A spokesman for oppostion leader Deb Frecklington (LNP) said the club does not represent the party's views and values.

"Last year the party resolved to disendorse the UQ club and as such it is not affiliated in any way with the LNP," he said.

Councillor Vicki Howard said the group "has no affiliation with the LNP and the actions of this small group of narrow-minded individuals is appalling".

"The small group of people involved in this completely inappropriate display do not in any way represent how we as a Council and the LNP feels, and it will not and never will be tolerated," she said.

UQ union president Ethan Van Roo Douglas issued a statement on Sunday night to say he was "deeply disturbed by reports that union councillor Wilson Gavin - along with executives from the University of Queensland Liberal National Club - disrupted a public event at the Brisbane City Council Library".

"While the union endorses freedom of expression and student activism, we strongly condemn aggressive behaviour that intimidates and causes distress to children and their families.

"We also expect that all union office bearers publicly conduct themselves in a manner which

I would say they've been taught to think for themselves. Isn't that what education is for? Or is it for rote learning of whatever authority figures decide they need to know?

You've hit the nail on the head!

Children don't think fo themselves. They look to adults for guidance.

Which is why it's so easy to brainwash them.

LOL - perhaps when a kid comes to you asking a question - you ask back - What Do You Think.

Worked for me.

Really/ That's kind of absolving resonsibilty of an an adult towards a child.

Oh LOL - it is actually asking a child - how do you see it.

They have a view.

So you say - have you considered the consequences.

The ' consequences ' having been explained.

Being as young as she was - on several occasions - she came back - having THOUGHT - and said - I have thought.

And she has a Phd. lol

Re: Drag queens reading to kids

When our kids where very young we deliberately took them to a party put on by some gay friends of ours. Coming from a rural town, gays where not a common thing in public and our kids had not been exposed to an openly gay lifestyle. We explained that they would see same sex couples holding hands etc. and that this normal for them and OK if that is their choice. In the following months the gay couple also taught our daughter how to ride ponies at their hobby farm.

It was probably a wise decision as in recent years a number of kids at their school have been in gay relationships and even a couple of teens undergoing sex changes. Thier friendship groups now include both gay & straight couples. Showing the kids this is normal part of life for many people at an early age, set them up to be accepting and understanding.

Its just not even a thing for most young people these days, its only the older generations who fuss over it. The war for acceptance has already been won amongst the younger generation and they have moved on to worry about more important stuff.

Re: Drag queens reading to kids

When I was a teenager, a gay friend (who I was in denial about) invited me to attend a night club to see the Peter Moselle Review. I had no idea who Moselle was. I just wanted an opportunity to try and hook up with a girl. I quickly learned it was a gay night but being me, I was hell bent on doing alright. A girl I was attracted to left so I discretely left too. In getting up the nerve I said hello and her 4 foot nothing girlfriend told me to p*ss off. In seeing how tiny she was I ignored her. Next thing she punched me right between the eyes and the blood started pouring out. At this time the cops rolled up and when they realised what had happened they literally fell to their knees laughing.

Despite my failure and humiliation I have to agree with Domino that the people were the most genuine, friendly, caring and fun people I have ever met. But trust me, do NOT think they are pushovers. Heart

Re: Drag queens reading to kids

Oh please.

Everypne's had experience with gay ppl.

I had a gay uncle, who had several gay friends who were invited to our home regularly.

Of course I accept homosexuality is a fact of  life. But "gay" doesn't necessarily mean .transvestism or gender assignment.

What I can't accept is men glammed up in women's clothes. camping it up in a library reading to children.

If we want our children to accept this as the norm, what else would they grow up  to consider normal?

Pornography? Pedophilia?
