post #137 . . . "I like your posts Iapetus, they are well thought out and articulate, but you seem to have very little faith in anything other than scientific theory and honestly I dont think you are going to concvince anyone, who is is a true believer, that the religious texts/scriptures are simply just the words of men. I'm sure you've heard of inspiration, it's an amazing thing. No one really knows where or how they become inspired to write these things, there is no scientific explanation for it. But it's real and many believe it to be a gift from God. Yes men wrote those texts, but can you prove without a shadow of a doubt that they were NOT inspired by God to write them?"

I have faith in reason. Science is all about reason. I don't believe that I need religion in order to understand right from wrong.
The religious scriptures were all undoubtedly written by men (maybe there's that Gospel of Mary but it is not acknowledged by the male dominated Christian church)
No, I cannot prove that the men who wrote those texts were not inspired by god to write them any more than you can prove that they weren't inspired by some sort of psychotic, power-hungry, money-seeking lunacy.
The delusions of the insane seem real enough to them. I know this as I have met so many of them, and I had no more success appealing to their sense of reason to give up their insanity than I will have appealing the same thing to the religiously convicted.
But I might have just a little chance of appealing to those who are still on the edge . . those who haven't already slipped over and plunged headlong into the abyss 😉

What's happened to the boards today? Looks like it's turned into soap box sermon land.

it's ok to put kero in the rain water tank. It floats on top of the water so you're not in danger of drinking it. And it does stop the mossies breeding.

But kero could cause an explosion
