The Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah, but they believe he existed and  I imagine it would be taken as a given that he was Jewish. HIs 'father' Joseph lived in Nazareth and was of the house of David; and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, (David's city.) .

So assuming he was born to Jewish parents, according to the New Testament he had serious "issues" with the religious rulers of the time. Some of the things he was quoted as saying have been regarded as anti-semitic. I personally believe that if he was a Jew (because his mother was) he was not practising Judaism (but thats just my personal belief based on what I have read from the New Testament) But if you believe that Jesus is the divine son of God, then does that mean God himself must be a Jew also? 

I quite like this quote from a website called "Organic faith" 

"I guess I view the “harsh words” in the Gospels as more anti-humanism and works-based righteousness than I do as anti-Semitic. Jesus spoke against the human condition rooted in sin. The Jews were just one example of that. They had been called to be a light to the nations and were not fulfilling their mission."

God for Catholics is One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

So to answer your question God himself must be a Jew. This is my opinion.

Now I'm totally confused.  Do you believe that Jesus and God are one and the same?  Or that Jesus' father is the one true God? Or The one true God is the father, son and the Holy Spirit or that Jesus is God and the father, son and the Holy spirit? 

Because I thought most Christians believed in God (the father) and Jesus (the divine son of God) 2 seperate entities.
