The Jews do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah, but they believe he existed and I imagine it would be taken as a given that he was Jewish. HIs 'father' Joseph lived in Nazareth and was of the house of David; and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, (David's city.) .
So assuming he was born to Jewish parents, according to the New Testament he had serious "issues" with the religious rulers of the time. Some of the things he was quoted as saying have been regarded as anti-semitic. I personally believe that if he was a Jew (because his mother was) he was not practising Judaism (but thats just my personal belief based on what I have read from the New Testament) But if you believe that Jesus is the divine son of God, then does that mean God himself must be a Jew also?
I quite like this quote from a website called "Organic faith"
"I guess I view the “harsh words” in the Gospels as more anti-humanism and works-based righteousness than I do as anti-Semitic. Jesus spoke against the human condition rooted in sin. The Jews were just one example of that. They had been called to be a light to the nations and were not fulfilling their mission."

God for Catholics is One God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
So to answer your question God himself must be a Jew. This is my opinion.

Oh! Please! Whatever next? God, the Creator of Everything - billions of years before any man was made, let alone any nation - is a JEW.
Please talk to a Priest QUICKLY. They don't know much about the truth but I think you will be excommunicated.

Well (no offence) but you are the first catholic I have ever heard say this.
Have you ever considered converting to Judaism?

I'm pretty sure from Catholic school I was taught Jesus was Jewish.

huh? Catholics don't have 3 Gods. Jesus, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is our God.

I'll say again, the Jew WERE the chosen people.
Do you want to discuss this or are you just going to ignore what I say AGAIN?
The Jews are the chosen people. What is there to discuss?
The Jews are no longer the chosen people - you show me where they are and I'll show you where they are not.
and, by the way, did you respond to my other question of you about bowing / kneeling before graven images?
The Catholic Church recognises that the Jewish people as the chosen people and the covenant of God made with them is still valid.
I will have a look at your other question now.

What graven images do I bow to?

Now I'm totally confused. Do you believe that Jesus and God are one and the same? Or that Jesus' father is the one true God? Or The one true God is the father, son and the Holy Spirit or that Jesus is God and the father, son and the Holy spirit?
Because I thought most Christians believed in God (the father) and Jesus (the divine son of God) 2 seperate entities.
