Holiday Favorites

I've been reading, and watching shows about food around the world, it's diversity and its similarities. And with Christmas coming, I thought I'd ask what your favorite special to the holidays dish is?

One of mine is Whoopee pies, one of my DILs is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and she makes them for us only at Christmas. They are so goood!

Re: Holiday Favorites

I'm in Alabama, but we've  lived in Texas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York and Maine. We're  just south of Birmingham, a lovely city if you ever get to come here.

The texas reference was probably about when we lived there, or about the musuems, Texas has a bunch of great ones. I think I miss Boston the most, but that may be because we were very young and only had 2 kids then, lol!

Her accent is wrong. LOL

You're not just "Whistlin' Dixie", Dom, lol! I have a drawl that rivals even Dolly's! I was raised mainly in Tennessee.

Anyone know what I can cook using zucchinis ........ have a zillion of them to to use in something   ..... already have a recipe for slice

If they aren't too big, you could make pizza boats. I cut them in half and hollow them out, then parboil them. Then stuff them with cooked ground beef or sausage mixed with pizza sauce, top with some pepperoni and mozzarella  and bake them about 20 minutes at 350, until the cheese gets brown and bubbly. Even my childish self will eat my zucchini that way!

Don't look much, but yummy

Stawka, those look PERFECT! Now I want a snickerdoodle! I was telling Tas about the infused sugars my DIL makes to use in baking, she INSISTS that her snickerdodles aren't quite right without it.

Lalbo This is the recipe I use but I also add chicken, corn and zucchini  to mine. I also cook everything bacon, onion etc etc before I add them to the mix, I find it  gives the quiche more flavour   ..... I usually make 2 or 3 at a time

Thank you very much! BY gosh, I think I could even make this by myself! If I'm ever allowed in my own kitchen for any length of time, that is, lol! Mind you I'm NOT complaining!

We are putting the finishing touches on a communal meal for the tornado victims out at the camp, my Great granddaughter thought it might help for them to share a meal, start getting to know each other and maybe they can start healing. "After Church Chicken&Noodles" and cornbread, healthy , hearty, stick to your ribs food  that makes your heart and your belly feel good.
