I've been reading, and watching shows about food around the world, it's diversity and its similarities. And with Christmas coming, I thought I'd ask what your favorite special to the holidays dish is?
One of mine is Whoopee pies, one of my DILs is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and she makes them for us only at Christmas. They are so goood!

What kind? I mean, what does it consist of? My DIL can probably help.

Good morning all (and good evening Lal up north) .... just dropping in quickly as I have to be rushing out the door in five minutes .. coffee in one hand, toast in the other ..
So much for the Hawaiian sweet bread over the weekend .. time ran out and there wasn't one spare minute to do anything related to baking ...
However .... this weekend will be slightly different ... and there will be baking, even if it's in the middle of the night!
Have a great day everyone .. back soon xxxx

Usually has tomatoes, onion, spices ............ am surprised that no one here makes it
Tommies were building up and I will be outta action for at least another week, so hubs made some pasta sauce for me ..... 15 jars done, 10 to go and STILL have a zillion tommies on the vines
He also made 2 quiches, to use up some eggs and zucchini, I swear they breed in the fridge

I usually use my tomatoes to make tomato sauce (ketchup, I guess, to Lal)
The EZ sauce way -
But I didn't have a vegie garden this year.
Relish is not our thing.

Yeah have cpl of bottles of ezy sauce in the cupboard, have made their recipe before, so was looking a different one. We both like it on some cold meat, so like have a jar or 2 ready for use.
No veggie garden? what happened or didnt happen?
Hubs does not use tommie sauce, so no point in making it for one

Just didn't happen.
I wasn't able to cultivate it.
Weeds took over and I couldn't get on top of it
Then couldn't pay for someone to do it due to Covid.
Sure miss those fresh vegies over summer though
But I have 8 foot high milk thistles....yay....not

Hard when you have to do it alone 😞 Gardeners arent cheap, even it you could get one. I dont know how I would go if hubs couldnt help me, he does all the heavy llifting me. I dont get a lot of weeds in my tanks, so can get rid of them as they appear or when we are "spelling" a bed
