I've been reading, and watching shows about food around the world, it's diversity and its similarities. And with Christmas coming, I thought I'd ask what your favorite special to the holidays dish is?

One of mine is Whoopee pies, one of my DILs is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and she makes them for us only at Christmas. They are so goood!

Well look at that! .... Smiley Sad

How could the same batch, cooked at the same time look so different just because they were on different shelves in the oven?

The top shelf produced ordinary round ones, and the bottom shelf had to have a little longer on the next shelf up but why the difference?

Mind you, they still taste delicious.

Any suggestions?

lyhargr, yes, it can be but I usually switch the fan off and let it go the ordinary way.  Would they have been better off with the fan on?

I'll turn the fan on next weekend when I make the next lot and will see what happens.

I used to have a normal smaller oven (60cms) and I don't use this 90cm one often, usually use the much smaller convection side of the microwave/convection oven .. the big oven has far too many unnecessary 'bells and whistles'.

Tas, I have a dinosaur oven, so am uneducated in the difference of 'fan forced'

If your oven is 900mm, then you should be able to fit 2 trays side by side?

Theories to test - good luck

You are so right stawks, but my trays are too big .. am going after smaller ones this week ... Smiley Very Happy  ... so the next step is ... # fan on  >>> # top rung >>> # right size trays together!

Yeah mine is a bit like that as well. I mainly use it for pizza, quiche etc, cause I make a few of them at one time. Everything else is cooked in the turbo oven.   I didnt really need a 90cm oven but I wanted 5 gas rings ( n I use em all) so I didnt really have a choice.
