A severe weather system has brought blizzards, snow, heavy rain and gale-force winds to areas of south-eastern Australia.
A major cold front has created a winter wonderland in parts of New South Wales, with good snow falls recorded in the Alpine region and a light dusting in the Central Tablelands.
Victorians have been experiencing some of their coldest temperatures this year, while snow also dusted areas of the ACT and South Australia.

And it doesn't look like it's going anywhere either!!!

Lol, I couldn't help it. Especially after living through one of the coldest winters I remember. Even though it was below freezing for what felt like months, the bugs are doing fine.
Because of the freezing temps the snow never melted, protecting the bugs underground like a warm blanket. It's going to be a bad summer for deer ticks which carry Lyme disease, and mosquitoes which carry the West Nile virus.
So far I'm seeing a lot more bees and wasps...species I've never seen before.

It's bleeping cold!
We had the thunderstorms here last night as well - never heard anything like it in EINTER before?? But we only got a lot of rain out of it, thankfully.
Today it was freezing, the wind cut like a knife so spent most of the day inside with the gas heater going

Luckily Tony Abbott is in control. Say no to wind farms and solar panels. Coal is the way to warm the world.

Wind farms and solar panels will never be able to meet the planet's power needs, even if you covered every available surface with them. The other alternative is nuclear.
We certainly export plenty of uranium to other countries that are nuclear powered.
