I remember Paul Keating warned Australians what would happen under John Howard and he was correct to a degree. Do you think voters are being warned with any accuracy prior to this coming election?
My feelings are that we are heading for a more conservative future, I also believe that the libs will try and destroy the union movement.
Feel free to add how you believe things will change in Australia if there is a change in Government.

I predict a massive recession within 12 months of an Abbott led Government.
I believe that's coming anyway, no matter who is in the office.
Do you think voters are being warned with any accuracy prior to this coming election?
Even if there were dire warnings etc. it wouldn't matter, many people are completely fed up with the current government, enough to dismiss any such warnings as a last ditch attempt to sway the public confidence back to a party they have given up on.

If Gina gets control of the fourth estate, and this is what she is trying to with the non partisan SMH, she will convince gullible readers that she is doing it for Australia and not for personal gain. She already has Rupert Deng's news group in her stable.

Whoever controls the press controls the nation and the nation's views, particulary on politics.

Yes, because it can't possibly be true that voters can think for themselves.
Another thought, maybe the media is presenting it the way it is? No, can't be so.

Nev, it might interest you to know that when things go off track there has to be a scapegoat to blame. and of course Gina is a BIG target 🙂

How will it change Australia? Very little in the long run,
I've lived through a succession of governments, both Labor and Liberal, going right back to Menzies, and while there have been huge advances in the fields of technology and medicine - and women are not quite as disadvantaged or discriminated against as they were in the early1960s, I can't think of any government policies that have changed the fundamental social structure of Australia. Day to day life for most Australians goes on in much the same way that it always did.
Of course, if Abbott manages to abolish global warming by abolishing the carbon tax then I might have to rethink that answer.

You don't think social security payments or medicare made a difference?
