After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

Wow, sounds like everyone had a lovely day 🙂  

Busy day in the Bushie household, more boxes and furniture in from the shed, new power pointsand light switch in the kitchen, new outdoor power points. 

Question for the rose peeps ..... What causes the leaves to appear dry and curly looking?  Have a cpl of roses that this is happening to atm, so would like to get  sorted out if I can, as I dont want lose them.

Thanks Freddie 🙂 The cpl of roses it is happening to haven't been all that "happy" since I brought them here, all the other roses are really powering, so I want to sort it out if I can.

I don't know what it could be.  Or what to do.  Sorry.

However, I know bark chips draw nutrients from the soil.  Perhaps if you scrape them back from the plant's dripline and apply a small amount of Rose Food or mild fertilizer, that might help.

Also, no herbicide (Roundup) anywhere near roses.  The soil can hold and accumulates doses where it is used.

I think I recall one of your garden beds was a sandpit for the dogs use.  Was enough good soil added originally to hold water?

This year has just flown by! My littlest grandie is 2!

Today I had my 2 youngest grandsons, 5yo and 7yo and took them shopping and to have a santa pic taken. That was less of an ordeal than I expected and when asked, both replied that they would be happy for santa to choose what he brings them, lol.

I came home and had an unexpected nap (I never have nana naps, lol)............ spent time with my FIL and then home to a visit from family. 🙂 Happy day.

Deb The ones in the back garden are all ok, new soil was added, then hay, then the chips, so all good there .... These were on the front verandah, one died and the other 2 aren't happy at all The roses in the front garden are fine, so has me stumped

At least Sergeant Plod and his uniformed officers didn't arrive to disrupt our little soiree.

However, the maid is talking of going on strike.   "Why wasn't there any gentlemen to serve?"

I explained slowly to her, that for guests to attend, they had to bring a plate appropriate for the Tea; and that I wouldn't be surprised if they were contemplating cooking classes at this very minute.  

Now, ladies I note some cuttings had been taken from my geraniums and some of the succulents seem less in number.  I hope they are cared for and become a part of your own gardens.  Don't pot them up to sell at the local markets. 

I want to thank you for taking those post-scone walks across the lawns.  

After a busy day, I'm a little weary so shall retire to my virtuous couch.

Are they going yellow with spots on them first and then curling up? That would be black spot - spray with a rose fungicide.

Yellowing then going brown? I've had that happen to some roses I had in pots. I gave mine a light feed (I use fish emulsion - smells but the plants seem to like it)  AND sprayed them with a fungicide just in case. They are powering now!

I have a problem here with powdery mildew  Never had that on my roses anywhere else! ( Fungicide helps there too)

I spent almost the whole afternoon tidying / weeding all my front gardens - I have had to go nuts with the roundup as I am infested with a type of onion weed that is near impossible to get rid of.... hoping that does the trick so I can put in some flower seedlings before it gets too hot.
