My lemon tree please help

Hi,

Any gardeners about?

I have just purchased my first lemon tree and my husband planted it two weeks ago. It is a mayer dwarf lemon tree and the shrub is looking good except for something seems to be eating it. I sprayed white oil top and bottom of the leaves.

What else do I need to do please?

Thanks in advance.

Re: My lemon tree please help

Julie, men's pee has been used for yonks for lemon trees that are planted in the ground.

Not women's.  Different trace elements.

My daughter's 2 lemon trees wouldn't fruit.

I told her to get her partner to pee around the drip line every week or so.

They fruited so much she was giving away the lemons.

google......men's urine for lemon  trees.

I recollect that Bert of The World's Fastest Indian  (a true story) used to upset his NZ  neighjbours when he peed around his tree.

Some suggest soap n water with chillies but I don't like to use soap if using the rind.

I prefer garlic and water. Can't be too strong though, it can burn the leaves.

kopenhagen5 I like the sound of garlic and water, will give that a go. Will google for a recipe / dose.

We get the gall wasp on our Ironbark, Banksia's and Acacias, thankfully they don't really do any lasting damage on these. We've never used any chemicals in the garden (over 20 years), but we do encourage the good insects - Ladybirds etc. You can buy them, (different kinds for different problems) and plant good bug B&B's. boris1gary where can I buy bugs? I love ladybirds - do they kill pests in the garden and where can I buy them please?

Once you know what pests you have in the garden and what good insects you have - you will be able to work out what you need. We also planted the B&B seeds in 2 large pots so they can be moved around. They don't only sell Ladybirds they have lacewings and some other stuff as well. Releasing the Ladybirds is fun, I had them crawling up my arms. Woman Happy

Re: My lemon tree please help

You can buy ladybirds? That is amazing.  I have seen crickets alive at Better Pets and Gardens but they are for feeding other animals or birds or something.

They used to sell frozen mice to feed snakes.  I don't know whether they still do.

Re: My lemon tree please help

Gall Wasp can kill a healthy citrus tree.  Ladybirds/bugs can't get at them

to eat them, so, not gunna fix that problem.

Boris, I reckon the ladybird from Miniscule could do the work of 100 regular ladybirds.
