My bil has had a family of magpies visiting him with their young for years. Magpies are recognized as having one of the most melodious and beautiful calls.

It is lovely when nature comes to you, even if it is for a feed.
We feed all birds.......except those darn cockies.........wish they would go elsewhere.

Aw, nics, I know you mean well, but you really shouldn't feed
meat to magpies. They need to find their own meat
in the form of worms and bugs.
Someone else on here (forget who) also mentioned that supermarket mince
is lacking in something for them, and gives them a kind of club foot deformity,
that prevents them from sitting on branches.
It may make the littlies dependant on you and not learn to peck
for worms for themselves. The don't eat beef in the wild do they?
I have a magpie family that visits. I googled and I feed them muesli
cos it's grains and their favourite food is walnuts. Then they go fossick in
the garden.
Sorry for the lecture, but I'm sure you understand.
I'm so glad your famlly had 3 babies

We have just got back from Hamilton Island as I have a friend visiting from Hobart. The birds there just help themselves to the food!
We were warned to keep balcony doors shut. One cockatoo flew in and pinched a half eaten muesli bar off the table.
And at the pub on the marina, holy moly. I am so glad we only had a beer, no meal. The magpies swoop in and pinch the food off your plate. Saw that many chips, even burger buns go.

no thats not useless news Nic, I know all the birds and possums that live in or visit my garden. My family think I'm a bit infatuated with our ringtail possum family. I'm always looking out for them

Yep, my daughter would have been break-dancing. Lots of people were ducking.
Not pleasant at all really, but a bit of a laugh.
