Bit of a surprise, eh?
It says in the link that he had vowed to never enter politics again, but some time ago I heard him say that he had left politics too early.
Anyway, he's always been one of my favourite pollies.

rudd sure is POISON.... POISION to Australia.
Beattie said Rudd was terrible. So why help him stay Prime Minister?
Peter Beattie once said Kevin Rudd was bad for Labor and bad for the country:
The Weekend Australian, June 26, 2010:
PETER Beattie: But like the overwhelming majority of caucus, I knew there was a fatal political flaw. It was poor political judgment on key issues. For me, Rudd’s lack of political judgment was demonstrated in the introduction of the mining tax without proper consultation, the backflip on timing of the emissions trading scheme and the bungled home insulation program. His failure to listen to a broad range of advice, particularly on issues in which he had little expertise, also demonstrated poor judgment…
The Weekend Australian, July 31, 2010:
BEATTIE: At the moment, the party faithful know they are being betrayed ... There can also be no greater act of treachery ... . Media reports are now suggesting Rudd himself is possibly the source of the leak…
Paul Howes, Confessions of a Faceless Man, page 20:
(PETER Beattie) told me plainly that “that bloke stuffed up the Goss government, stuffed up his own government and during the election did his best to stuff up Julia’s government. No one should ever forget the damage that he has done.
But Beattie now wants to help this same man be Prime Minister of the country for another three years. Power above principle:
WE have had our differences but it takes a bit of strength and a bit of guts from the Prime Minister to rise above that and say ‘what’s good for the campaign, what’s good for Queensland’.

Another excellent story here
KEVIN Rudd begged his old enemy Peter Beattie to help him prop up Labor's vote in Queensland after he realised his political honeymoon was fading fast.
Despite an initial boost in popularity that helped re-energise Labor, secret polling showed the Ruddmentum was faltering the week before the PM called the election.
In a sign of desperation, Kevin Rudd made a personal phone call to Mr Beattie pleading for his help.

I think we can honestly say that the media is all over Rudd & now the darling of the media, Beattie. We see the bias day in day out & any criticism ends up with a heart rending complaint from Rudd but he never really says what he means.
The deep abiding hatred Beatie has for Rudd is legend but Ruddy has put all thet into the FORGETTERY, oh please stop the laughter is killing me
The ABC is now so biased I'm surprised any Conservative would give them the time of day.
After the election I believe a full inquiry into the ABC & a gutting of the group think is desperately needed to bring balance back into the political forum.
It has been said in the past that the conservatives not only have to beat Labor but the ABC & its many arms as well.
I also believe that no matter how low Labor sinks in the principle dept. the left will applaud the corrupt ideology of "whatever it takes" never mind the staggering hypocrisy.
I think they are in for a shock, the wind will be knocked out their sails after they lose & Rudd will be despatched quick smart & Beatie will be leader.

dont be silly, turnbull doesn't like abbott who doesn't like hockey. who cares. having a common purpose does not mean having to be the best of buddies, something andrew no friends bolt or barstool akerman are too dim to comprehend.

The hate filled feud of Beattie of Rudd goes back decades, it's legend, everybody knows about it. Beattie has made no secret of his disgust & disdain for Rudd. So does he have that weird little Therese Rein place too, you know, the one Rudd now calls his own.
Do they think this type of machination will be seen as a winner in the eyes of the electorate? time will tell, but I like Beattie & lets face it, anybody who can destroy Rudd is a friend of mine.

pfftt... which andrew told you that. as i said it isn't relevant ..maybe to haties so full of hope it is, but to everyone else it is a non-issue.

How come you can call people names on here with impunity?
what? haven't you paid any attention to what you read . i seem to recall them and supporters making a lot of remarks about a certain former female PM.. name calling in the press on a scale probably never inflicted on a sitting PM before, and you pull me up for calling others names?
