Prickly heat like rash.

Would appreciate some advice please.  I've got a rash across my chest and back and it is driving

me crazy.  I've tried creams and lotions to cool it down and get some relief, also had anti histamines, it

hasn't seemed to have improved.  Don't think I'll be able to make work in the morning

Some suggestion on what to use would be greatlly appreciated.

Re: Prickly heat like rash.

Don't wear anything nylon or polyester. Bras, singlet or top should be cotton only with any rash, and as was said, go to the Chemist first and ask if the new meds could do this. Often the Chemist is more informed about reactions to certain medicines, and will either tell you to see your Doctor or give you something to ease and heal the rash.

Have that tepid Oatmeal bath to ease the discomfort and give you some sleep. Make sure the cover is cool. Don't use blankets or a doonah.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for your replies.  I haven't started any new meds.  The only change

was a new deodorant and after a couple of days use the underarm area was

getting a bit red and decided to not continue using it.  The inflammation is

on the chest above the bust area , back of neck and across the back mostly

near the shoulder blade area.    Will try the bi carb of soda already  tried

calamine lotion.  Below is a pic.

Re: Prickly heat like rash.

You should get it checked asap. If it is shingles the medication has to be taken within a about 48 hours of the rash appearing.  Shingles can start near the underarm and varies a lot.

Looks like hives to me.

Shingles are usually vesicles with clear or yellow tinged fluid in them and as Jane said, usually confined to one hemisphere of the body.

Re: Prickly heat like rash.

Maybe, just maybe it could be a reaction to green grapes.
The past week I've have more than usual as they have been

quite cheap and sweet.  I've not had any yesterday or today so

wait and see if they could be the culprit.

Have you done any cleaning where there was excess dust ie boxes stored under a bed or in the shed or under the house or helped somebody else do some cleaning or a garge sale recently??

The dustmites have been really really bad this year

Some more info re autralian mites and the contact possibilities on the link above.

If you can associate the timing of the rash with an activity that you do not do normally then it may help a health professional make a definite diagnosis

they don't start as blisters on the first day though. The ones I saw started as a rash and blistered later.

Re: Prickly heat like rash.

The only new thing was a deodorant and I stopped that.  I mowed the other day maybe

a reaction to a creepy crawly.

Last night I made a paste of bicarb of soda and put it on and had immediate relief.  I was waitiing for the burning to start as the paste wore off, but it lasted through the night and managed a couple of hours sleep.  This morning had an oatmeal bath and the inflammation has reduced slightly.  Currently at work, don't know if I will last the day though.
