this would have to be one of the most intelligent

i'd put you up there with Monman
IMO
So was the bombing of Guernica http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Guernica an act of terrorism, or was the terror and destruction unleashed on defenceless civillians there merely the consequence of a legitimate act of war - and does the same answer apply to the London Blitz and the bombing of Dresden?
Geez thats 1937 She El... Is it possible to stay on the topic of the beheading etc and the year 2014 ๐
at which point in time do you think we should start
judging actions against modern values/morals/standards?
making comparisons to the beginning of last century - does that
mean we learnt nothing? how about the hague, would that be
a good starting point?

The death of the 2 journalists is tragic, it is sad for their families and co-workers, for all journalists and their support staff who go to these places so we can see it on TV or read about it. And that is much closer to home for me than you can imagine. But in the whole scheme of things, it just another example of the unlimited capacity of humans for inflicting cruelty on each other. And so yes, 1937 or 2010 or 2014.............. it is ALL important

Agreed - we all have a tendency to wander off topic from time time to time. However, your C&P in #1 dealspecifically with the nature and perception of terrorism, so in that sense my questions were valid. In my opinion, errorism is a word that is tossed around far too readily and in consequence has lost much of its meaning and forcefulness.
As to what do I think about the latest beheading - what can anyone think other than that it was an act of monstrous barbarity?

has there been any confirmation of the video yet?

Obama has requested Australias further help and assistance re escalation to their response to the death cult isil and the latest beheading.
I don't think asking for โconfirmation or proofโ of this latest atrocity is relevant. IMO its offensive to the family and all the other millions who are sickened by this.

the IS militants apologised to their followers
for lack of discipline and releasing the video early.
"We tried to remove the video after we understood that this was published by mistake, and we are sorry to the followers of Islamic State," the group said in a message, in Arabic, posted on Justpaste.

well then contact every media outlet and let them know,....
The release of a video that appears to show the beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff by the Islamic State "abundantly justifies" Australia's military involvement in Iraq, Prime Minister Tony Abbott has said.

Isis video claims to show beheading of US journalist Steven Sotloff
US intelligence officials working to establish authenticity of video of Sotloff being killed, reportedly by the same fighter who murdered James Foley

The footage, which is yet to be verified by the US, shows Steven Sotloff, who disappeared in Syria last year, dressed in orange and on his knees in a desert landscape.

Muslims are killing muslims. It is instructional to lift some words from the holy koran:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful...2:2 This Book, there is no doubt in it, is a guide to those who guard (against evil).
Muslims in Iraq and Syria are following the guide that Allah has dictated.

and where are all the crys of condemnation from the Muslim community ????
Maybe you are not looking at the right place. Of-course, ordinary Muslims are as shocked as we are but they do not have high profile representation in daily newspapers or on TV.
well perhaps they should be more vocal so the of us dont see their silence as support.
and your saying the Muslim leaders in this country arent asked to make statements, cant ring a news reporter to state their position on these events.
The reason they dont is simple, they support the actions
just wait till it starts happening here like it has in the UK
