And if you know English enough to know how to find such things it might be easy.  I wonder how many migrants know that there are free libraries.

Ever heard of getting off your **bleep** and finding things out for yourself.

It's not like their are IED's on every corner in Australia, it is safe to walk around.

Well, if you go to Centrelink or council offices, which I would expect they would do, then the information

is readily available - in more than one language, not just English. Councils also have info available where

kindergartens are located - and the kids have to go to Kinder so it's not like they are totally blind.

Hey, if the Chinese can come here from a few years after White settlement and get on because they have the

get up and go, why can't others. I would say the Goldfields were a pretty harsh environment to live in not

knowing English.

wonder if the same people would agree that Aussies who live abroad should be "made " to learn the language spoken in that country, I know plenty of Aussies who live and work in non english speaking countries and don't speak the language. What's next, we force people to change their religion....oh wait....think some might already be pushing that line.

If you go to some countries, you don't have much choice but to learn the language or you would find it hard to communicate.

Very handy - for anyone who is not illiterate, as many refugees(particularly women) may be; and useful too if you have a working knowledge of the Latin alphabet - as opposed to the Arabic, Russian, Greek ones etc

Funny how one hell of a lot of immigrants and refugees post WWII managed to come here with no english and get on with learning it.

Greeks, italians, vietnamese being prime examples.

Maltese less so being closely associated with the UK.

I dont think you lot have a clue as to what resources are availble to refugees, migrants.

On line english from begginer to advanced.

I know local councils near me hve similar which is why i knew about them.


And don't tell me they dont know how to use goole or access the internet, they leant bout Aus and the huge welfare benefits from it. !!!
