The All New Tas - What's for Dinner Thread - & - Don't Get Uppity.

Tas mentioned there was a good thread on - What's for Dinner.

Seems it ended up - a bit ' snooty '.

So - no fancy - dancy - stuff - just good fresh ideas for dins.

Oh - & Freddie - just loved the zucchini slice - if you could just put it here one more time - I swear not to lose it again.

And please - this time add the - zucchinis. lol.

Here - tonight - Chicken Schnit's with salad.

Trifle - has been mentioned - lately.

Would someone put up the best ' Trifle ' recipe.

All the yummy layers.

I have never made one - but - now would like to.

Don`t have a recipe for a trifle for you H but the best ingredient to add is some alcohol to the cake part..

LOL.

Perhaps - forget the cake, jelly, custard, chocky bits - just a shot glass would suffice.

My trifle.....it's not the usual, because I don't like soggy cake......but I always get asked to bring along:

1) slice up half a Swiss Roll & put on base of bowl

2) cover with thick custard.....& put in fridge

3) once custard is set & cold ....add some fruit salad (or fruit of choice)

4) cover with jelly (that has been cooled in the fridge) if it's nearly set it won't sink into bottom layers

5) once jelly is set, top with fresh whipped cream

NEVER FAILS

Evening all!

I didn't get as far as the impossible pie last night or today, but it's certainly going to happen tomorrow for dinner, promise;   I'll take a picture and post it to prove it ... Smiley Happy

Tonight was a hairy zucchini slice thing from the freezer, with a freshly cut salad of celery, red radish, cucumber and capsicum ... it's not that I mind hairy food (some marmalades are extremely hairy and getting the hairs out - the peel/zest - takes forever.  I meant to peel the zucchini but only washed it instead, so hairy again .. blerk!

One day, I'll have to learn to make hairless marmalade or find one to buy ... anyone have a recipe?

Hope everyone had a nice dinner tonight, even you Stawks .. won't be long before you will be having home made again for sure xx

Shredless marmalade, Tas

Daughter hates peel as well.

Makes 2 large jars.

How are zucchinis hairy?   Daughter calls them cooking cucumbers

I bought a bag of chopped vegies with my on-line grocery order.  Just thrown them in a pot with a few other easy things and Voila - minestrone soup

Looking forward to it.

Stawks, the zucchinis are kind of 'hairy' because when they are shredded, it ends up looking like neanderthal hair second only to sasquatch fur ....  Smiley Indifferent

Thanking you so much for the recipe .. I'll certainly be giving that a try soon.

Minestrone soup is the best, love it.

twyngwyn ... a big thank you to you for posting the impossible quiche recipe.  Here it is straight out of the oven a few minutes ago.

I added a crushed garlic clove just to kick it along a bit ... but the aroma of it cooking is fantastic.  I'll just chop up a salad very quickly and that should do it for dinner tonight.
