The Death Penalty, as a deterrent.
As there seems to be widely differing views on this subject it may be an idea to discuss it here instead of in the other thread involving real people..
Are you in favour of the Death Penalty or do you oppose it.
If you are in favour , in which circumstances should it be imposed.
If you are not in favour, are there any exceptions to your opposition?

The ultimate deterrent
That my be a deterrent for that person but so would incarceration for life.
If death penalties were a deterrent, there would be no one waiting for their turn.
Death penalty simply removes the offender. It's not designed to scare people off doing stuff that might offend. It's meant to remove them from society altogether.
It's a clean cut.

and back to the topic - i wish the death penalty was a deterrent but obviously its not.
I'm not pro death penalty but I don't shed a tear for the heinous murderers who cop the needle.
i tend to agree
especially if theyre those sadistic killers whom gain pleasure from killing innocent people, no consideration for loved ones & the families
if they had an agenda of ridding pure evil, well, thats different
