The Death Penalty, as a deterrent

The Death Penalty, as a deterrent.

As there seems to be widely differing views on this subject it may be an idea to discuss it here instead of in the other thread involving real people..

Are you in favour of the Death Penalty or do you oppose it.

If you are in favour , in which circumstances should it be imposed.

If you are not in favour, are there any exceptions to your opposition?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: The Death Penalty, as a deterrent

If you are asking me if I consider the death penalty a deterrent,my answer is generally speaking,no.
As far as my feelings towards state sanctioned murder,I am totally against it.Always have been and always will be.

Under any circumstances?  If one states they are against the death penalty, then they are against it. End.of.story.

I have always been against the death penalty, this thread won't make any difference, may not even read it again.

Re: The Death Penalty, as a deterrent

I just about kudoed all posts.

Yes, I am for the Death Penalty for proven, convicted repeat Murderers, Rapists, Child molesters and Drug Dealers.

I do not aprove of keeping such scum in prison at the taxpayers expense, but also for the reason that after several years they appeal about their harsh sentence and when released from jail, go and reoffend again.

Everyone will be rehabilitated and reformed, and prove to lead a new lawabiding life while incarcerated. They have no other choice while in jail. Let them out and they soon revert to the low life they have been before they got caught.

Things have changed a lot since last century. DNA was not awailable then, neither were lots of pathological and psychological tests. Eventually every crim breaks down and confesses. Perhaps not to the courts, but may brag to a fellow cellmate.

I have personal experience with not only one, but two ex-criminals that got parole and came straight from jail to kill some more people of one family. One of the murderers is still a free man and nobody knows how to find him. The family has moved interstate, but is still in fear that he may find them and kill someone else of the family.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

I am talking about proven convictions.

Erica

Joz, some minds are so intransigent that will not be changes under any circumstances and even if they are they would NEVER admit it

why dismiss people's beliefs as they are just intransigent?
why not accept that that is how they feel and they have a differing view point to you?
