The Death Penalty, as a deterrent.

As there seems to be widely differing views on this subject it may be an idea to discuss it here instead of in the other thread involving real people..

Are you in favour of the Death Penalty or do you oppose it.

If you are in favour , in which circumstances should it be imposed.

If you are not in favour, are there any exceptions to your opposition?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

I have read all the comments, and i will start with ele first..

If one or all of you children broke every bone in your body and ripped out ever finger and toe nail continuously for years, would your unconditional love endure all that time?

The range if feelings on this matter are strongly approve and adamantly disapprove.

Allow me to put a scenario before you for those who strongly approve.

A serial killer is convicted and found to be guilty of multiple torture, rape and murders he has confessed to each count and even bragged about them the sentence of death was pronounced and YOU have been appointed to be the executioner to carry out the sentence.

You must face the killer and tell him that you are there to terminate his like and look him in the eye while his life ebbs away until he is extinguished

Could you do it?

For those who strongly disapprove

Allow me to put a scenario before you for those who strongly disapprove.

You are witness to a serial killer who has just slaughtered several innocent people including children.

The next in line is a child who will be slaughtered within 10 seconds.

You have the ability to prevent it just by pressing a button but by pressing the button you will terminate the killers life.

Would you press the button or watch the child get slaughtered?

you do realise pressing the button in this scenario is not the same as carrying out the death penalty right?

I had a book passed on to me about a family line of executioners (UK).

What type of person would want that job? I don't know as I didn't/couldn't read the book.

there is a huge difference between ending a life to save a person in imminent danger and ending a life of a person who is already tried and convicted and been imprisoned for several years, and is then restrained to be bumped off.

That really should not need to be pointed out.
