The Death Penalty, as a deterrent

The Death Penalty, as a deterrent.

As there seems to be widely differing views on this subject it may be an idea to discuss it here instead of in the other thread involving real people..

Are you in favour of the Death Penalty or do you oppose it.

If you are in favour , in which circumstances should it be imposed.

If you are not in favour, are there any exceptions to your opposition?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

c2bgl,

I prefer to bypass all the convoluted, complex, contortions of both religious and legal historical mantra, convention, jargon, claptrap and verbal fabrications and cut to the chase with the simple application of raw justice.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

At what point in this thread are those against the death penalty going to change their minds?

Idle, believing and adhering to any ideology, belief, loyalty or love on an unconditional basis unwise. no doubt that you and most people have seen evidence of that.

I do not adhere to any ideology or religion. Being a human being is what I am, a decent one who believes some are capable of redemption and atonement for their deeds.

I am not talking about the barbarians, the islamic barbarism we are seeing, they are not and should not be put in the same category as a prisoner in jail who is trying to rehabilitate his/herself.

There is no set point and some may or may not change their mind that is for them to determine.

I see.... I misunderstood, I thought you were going to offer some evidence or similar, to encourage a change of mind.

I would never change my mind.

I used to think it was ok..........................having never given it a lot of thought. Once I did .... and researched it, I realised how wrong that was.

I agree and when we mature we realize we didn't pay attention to just how dehumanizing state sanctioned murder is.

It offends our humanity on all levels.

Az so in the past you had a change of mind on that subject, you may even give the subject some more thought and perhaps you might change it again 🙂
