The matter of self-quarantine

Self-quarantine , a noble undertaking , consideration to one's neighbour and community , a civic duty - but how diligently completed ?

Consider the rate in which driver's are busted for speeding , year after year ..... and the rationale for.

The matter of self-quarantine

Just one further comment and then I,m done for this particular exchange....I have noted a few other regular posters who are making genuine efforts to tone down the arguments and be a bit kinder than they might otherwise be, including some I have regular disagreements with ( waves to long time rival Tezza and others ).

Many people are extremely distressed at this time. Family and friends are losing their jobs, people are facing terrible impacts to the family budgets and others will have loved ones affected by the virus in coming weeks. The forums are a relatively small community, but we have got to know each other very well over time.

Now is the time to engage in interesting, informative discussion, supporting and encouraging each other without some of the more negative approaches we sometimes see.

Nz is in shut down and if you are stopped by the police driving you better be going to the supermarket, doctors or chemist or you will be arrested.

Workers that are exempt are a exception

I can walk to the beach and drive to the supermarket

Stay 2  metre away from people, I stay about 3

The matter of self-quarantine

You only need to self-quarantine if you've been travelling overseas, been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID, or have personally experienced symptoms of COVID.

Otherwise, you can leave your house and go about your business, whilst taking the recommended precautions.

Keep at an arm's length from others. Wash your hands regularly (at least every 15 mins if possible), and use sanitising gel.

Don't panic. It's a mild virus with a great recovery rate. Not a death sentence.

Try telling the over 70s not to panic.

It is an established fact that we are more vulnerable than most other age groups.....even trying to get a simple item like a loaf of bread leaves us open to contact with the virus.

Any contact with other humans or entering the outside environment will leave you open to any kind of contamination. Cancer, 'flu, accidents.

The corona virus may be the least of your problems.

Live life. It's full of pitfalls, but also full of highlights.

Some of us are taking this virus a lot more seriously than you obviously are.

Cancer is not contageous.....I have my annual flu shot.....I am not mobile enough to get into any accidents.  So actually coronavirus IS my main worry just now.
