Greta Thunberg, the Swedish environment campaigner, has been awarded a new humanitarian prize worth one million euros.
The 17-year-old founder of School Strike for Climate, won the inaugural Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity.
Judges described her as "one of the most remarkable figures of our days".
Ms Thunberg said she will be donating the prize money to charitable projects that are combating "the climate and ecological crisis".
As well as being awarded Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 2019, Ms Thunberg has been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize.

He's only been nominated, it doesn't mean he has actually been awarded it.
And Christian Tybrin-Gjedde is entitled to his opinion and he is probably quite right-Trump has probably done as much to create peace as most other Peace Prize nominees or indeed past winners.
I think a lot of these types of awards are very political anyway.

Christian Tybrin-Gjedde is right wing white supremacist, and apparently he said "I do not like lot that Trump does, but this is good.."
Anyway, lots of people get nominated. I doubt there will be many voting for Trump; in any case, he was just lucky he happens to be president in the time that these countries are coming to some agreements. He has not spend much time negotiating with them. And what a lucky timing for him, with just 52 days till the USA election, and just as the bombshell dropped about him admitting he knew all along how dangerous COVID19 is, and failed to act to protect people's life.

Stupid analogy. You still have to be world class to win Gold with or without steroids. Any random still can't win gold with Steroids.
Stupid analogy????
You don't think he has already
lined his pocketswon Gold - The Presidency of the US.
The steroids being The Electoral College.
He actually lost the race - the popular vote went to Clinton.
Clinton supporters need to get over it and let him do his job. The Dems have been white-anting him ever since he's been in office.
They've got their big chance in the upcoming election. But I think their blatantly trumped- up attempts at the character-assasination of Trump will go against them.
Nailed it icy..........Clinton supporters have never got over the fact their " fancy nancy, college educated, impeccably connected candidate" was outwitted and outsmarted by a misogynistic bafoon.
Up until COVID, Trump was actually doing a pretty reasonable job of running the place and certainly no worse than many before him. Unfortunately his handling of COVID has been disastrous. But is Biden the best the opposition can come up with to take over the Job ???? Cmon, give us a break......A tired old party hack who has one foot in the grave and his head in LAA LAA land and is only being offered the job out of loyalty for years of service. Is that the best they've got ?
If Trump pulls of a miracle and wins again it will be pretty easy to see why !..............It would almost be worth it to see the haters writhing in their own bile for another few years.

Trump Fiddles while America Burns with Fire and Fever, he has no empathy for either

Numerous studies have shown many national leaders over the years exhibit psychopathic tendencies that would preclude feelings of empathy. Trump is certainly not an orphan in this regard. The only difference is he is not very good at disguising his responses. A lot of others just fake it till they make it.

Certainly a few would, but statistically, there must be at least nearly half the voting public who support them. There's a whole lot more going on in Trumps victory than you seem to understand or care to admit.
We all saw what happened to Labor at the last Australian federal election when too many people failed to admit the truth. Same thing happened in America and it could be argued also in Britain.
Minorities might make a lot of noise, but beware the silent majority !

When interviewed - From Tybring-Gjedde :
He (Tybring-Gjedde) admitted that Trump won’t win the prize, if only because of the man’s vulgarity and crude behavior. “I know a couple of [the five members of the committee],” he said. “And they are looking for people who should behave a certain way. It’s not like chemistry—if they find out you have four divorces and are bad personally, they will never not give you the chemistry prize for that.”

I think you're right and he is unlikely to take the award.
Just a comment about the handling of covid in US.
I write regularly to someone over there and look, we all know the US has the most cases in the world but I think also Trump was misled by the Chinese to some extent & it's a catchy virus. It was in the US by January and when the US government made moves to stop Chinese arriving, there were absolute howls of protest and accusations of racism.
The US people also are not what I'd see as 'obedient'. I showed my friend photos of Melbourne in lockdown and she said she wishes people there were 'patriotic in that way' over there. ie, would work together. But she knows & I know that even the question of masks is political and if you tried to invoke a curfew, you'd have riots. The people there don't pull together.
Everything is comparative. When we had 725 new cases in one day in Melbourne, I would guess the rest of Oz was looking on in horror. In the US, in many states, that's a good day, nothing to worry about, and they are going about their normal business, schools open, travelling, mixing with groups. My friend was shocked to hear we had border closures.
Now some of the reaction to Covid comes down to Trump & his comments about masks and so on. I'm not saying he is a master statesman, I think he is a bit grubby but then, some of the most successful political leaders have been. I'd say he got voted in because a lot of the working people wanted him to put America first as he said he would and look after their jobs.
But I'd hate to be a politician (any politician) in US trying to develop a cohesive policy towards Covid. The governors don't work together or cooperate, let alone the people.
