DISCLAIMER: We are NOT keen Gardeners
OH has just spent a considerable number of days digging over, and weeding, his "vege patch". It's north facing and gets sun most of the day and seems to be good soil. He does plan to dig through some manure and use pea straw on the surface.
Quesion is, what should he/we plant now? He has lots of ideas for what I think are winter crop veges, e.g., carrots, potatoes etc, but what can we productively and easily grow at this time of the year?
We are on the far south coast of NSW.

Just remembered Sugar Peas.
Lovely vine - lovely flowers & the peas are very crispy & delicious.
Use in salads or cook.
Did my lot from a pack of seeds.

Bushie, don,t forget to put some Epsom salt once a year, I think that it replaces lost magnesium, I just know it works. Also plenty of blood and bone every few months and sea sol mix every 2 weeks. They sound weird but work a treat. We have heavy clay soil and these make a huge difference. Also if you are planting peas or beans, put a small amount of lime before you plant. Make sure to dig it in well though.
