Vege garden question

DISCLAIMER: We are NOT keen Gardeners

OH has just spent a considerable number of days digging over, and weeding, his "vege patch".   It's north facing and gets sun most of the day and seems to be good soil.  He does plan to dig through some manure and use pea straw on the surface.

Quesion is, what should he/we plant now?  He has lots of ideas for what I think are winter crop veges, e.g., carrots, potatoes etc, but what can we productively and easily grow at this time of the year?

We are on the far south coast of NSW.

Re: Vege garden question

Jean I was told to try Epsom salts on my tomatoes and Mandarin tree, apparently works a a treat. I dont use blood and bone 'cause most of my veggies are in raised beds which we prepare using sheep manure and good quality topsoil. I use a combo of Seasol and Powerfeed seems to work well.  I do have a cpl of flat bed garden but they have been well topsoiled, so planting isnt a prob, apart from my potato patch, I dont use any type of manure/fertilser when I am going to plant my root veggies

Re: Vege garden question

Today he planted spring onions, coriander, sweet corn, zucchini, cucumber, broccoli, radishes and chillies.  We'll see how it goes.

I think the plan is to get into the front garden tomorrow, weeding and pruning.  I have a nasty feeling I'm included in this crazy plan Smiley Indifferent

Let's hope the snails leave 'em alone.

They can smell fresh seedlings a mile off

I used to save the water from the first spin cycle and put it in a spray bottle and then spray the seedlings in

the evening with a fine mist.

Snails don't seem to like the taste and it's sort of organic.
