Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

Perhaps easier to just co operate and post every political subject with a capital P preceding the title?, that way people know what it is.

this is the 'general discussion board'
That it is.

Yes, but if politics was given its own board, would that make it unavailable for general discussion?

Moderation will remove any posts contravening any posting rules.
Why do people who don't post that often accross the board (low contributors) want to try and lay down some new laws for others?
am*3 when I said 'relegated to their own thread' perhaps I should have made it clearer for you. Connect and Share comprises many, many threads under specific topic headings as imastawka just demonstrated.
As far as 'laying down some new laws' - if that was a reference to my opening post you have unfortunately misinterpreted it. Despite there being a few who attempt to do that on the boards, I am not one and whether I post frequently accross [sic] the board or not does not limit my ability to make a suggestion for consideration

Yes,they bump all the fun photo threads,UFOs &two headed baby stories.Iff i wanted politics I'd watch the news & i never do that,i gots me some Foxtel so i can avoid it.
The politics people seem to argue a lot, calling others left or lefties & i don't even know what that means but it doesn't sound very Community Spirit to me
I want to see kitties &puggies, horaders, two headed babies & riddles that boggle my impatient &lazy mind.

WHO WOULD PREFER TO SEE ALL POLITICAL THREADS RELEGATED TO THEIR OWN THREAD IN CONNECT AND SHARE
Connect & Share
Clothing Arts Crafts & Hobbies
Community Spirit
Fun & Games
Coins, Stamps Collectables & Antiques
Computers & Electronics
Sports, books, moves & Music
Those aren't Connect & Share threads, they are sub-headings.

If it is fair enough for the games threads to be moved to another board then I agree that the political threads should be too.
Sometimes when I come on the boards it is hard to find a thread that is not political................I normally never open them to read................but sometimes it is hard to tell by the thread titles.
Lakeland................it is lolcats not bunnies pics.........

Threads about a two time ago PM's ex-boyfriend would be have to be moved to a political board then.
