Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

As I said in an earlier post:
'am*3 when I said 'relegated to their own thread' perhaps I should have made it clearer for you. Connect and Share comprises many, many threads under specific topic headings as imastawka just demonstrated.'

Those aren't Connect & Share threads, they are sub-headings.
Call it what you will - but it shouldn't be on Community Spirit any more.
The subject has gotten too large and should have it's own home
So add it to that list as it's own entity

@flashie* wrote:If it is fair enough for the games threads to be moved to another board then I agree that the political threads should be too.
Sometimes when I come on the boards it is hard to find a thread that is not political................I normally never open them to read................but sometimes it is hard to tell by the thread titles.
Lakeland................it is lolcats not bunnies pics.........
i was trying to avoid singling anyone out. after i realised i did just that but the person is a prolific political poster so ..

Would moving it to a different board make it unavailable for general discussion?
this is the 'general discussion board'
Yes, but if politics was given its own board, would that make it unavailable for general discussion?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________Not if it is still on topic/permitted on this board as well .
If there was a dedicated board for political threads, that every eBay poster had access to, why would political threads need to be permitted on CS as well?
There have been several threads moved from CS by the mods to a board they deemed more appropriate - that didn't preclude anyone who was interested from posting on them.

its not as if space is at a premium.
I'm not sure why you would say this Lakeland. Do you have trouble with the RTR thread or should someone start six new RTR threads every day? Please... post bunnies. I like bunnies.

But it is not large, there are only a handful or less of posters who fully engage in this political threads. It is very unlikely a new sub board would be created for the use of 5-10 people.
There are no rules stating a limit of how many threads a poster may start in one day, if there was that might cut the effect of having political threads all over the first page.

That argument doesn't wash. The moved threads are usually eBay related topics and are moved to the ebay Trading boards.
Politics is a general topic, catered for on CS.
