Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

Count the posters who participate, count the posters who start the threads.................... not enough posters to warrant it.
If anyone who objects to political threads wants to see less of them on page 1, start others of interest and participate and watch what happens.

As that is never going to happen, I won't have any anticipated problems.
How do you know it wont happen?

An excercise in semantics.I was taking it as moving the political threads to it's own spot somewhere, under whatever title, all clustered together so that those who enjoy a good political debate can have their arena to argue.

A new sub-board created for about 5 regular political posters? Most likely, be like a ghost town in a week.
When all else fails, point & laugh hysterically about a typo.

But this is a political thread too, does it get to stay?

so much angst over threads that don't need to be opened and read if you aren't interested.
relegating political posts to another board where they won't offend the sensibilities of the delicate posters is just another form of censorship.
I have an awesome solution - if politics is not your thing don't open the threads or back out when you realise what they are, and the diehard political posters stop invading other threads with their agenda.
Its commonsense and manners.

Nope
Even if you open a thread with an ambigious thread title, and find it is political in nature, it doesn't cost anything to hit the back button.
