Re: Where Australia stands at present with COVID-19

I imagine we are going to learn a lot from this pandemic, especially about individuals, groups and parties. Already I have learned who are insensitive, uncaring hypocrites and who have chosen to use this crisis to grandstand and take cheap political shots at the Government. I am not necessarily thinking about anybody on this board. I am more so thinking about the commentators, journalists and politicians I have seen on news coverages. And then there are those good Australians who genuinely care and are trying to help each other stay well and survive. I hope we remember who they were when/if this thing ends.

Feb 3 on Gilead and Remdesivir

So wonder what's happened to it?

I came across article yesterday, which said that Gilead are not as "forthcoming as they could be".  But i also read that doctor in Czech Republic, who was on the team that developed Remdesvir is using it with some success.  But Trump has 29 000 000 tablets of the chloroquine, I am just waiting for SCOMO to announce he is getting some from the USA.

I won't remember their faces, I won't remember the circumstances in which I saw them, but I will remember their kindness, their generosity of spirit, their forbearance, their courtesy and their patience.

And that, if nothing else, sustains my faith in humanity.

we are lucky our govt isnt like the govt in the united states led by a complete moron

i may not agree with scomos politics or everything hes done since this began but hes been doing a better than fair job under difficult circumstances.

its not like he has any past experiences to draw on. beyond the GFC which although bad did not stop anyone working or kill anyone directly (the pink batts saga not counted)

our health professionals both paid and voluntary deserve medals for putting themselves on the front line as do all the others like people working at woolies ect.

Medical researchers in Brisbane commenced studies on the drug weeks ago. Maybe you missed it but they announced their intentions well before Trump made any mention of the drug. 50 Australian hospitals volunteered to take part in the trials. I would think you have it back the front. Trump will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of the studies. The below article is from March 17.

Don't forget India's population is much younger and vigorous than ours and has been exposed to a much higher rate of disease than our Western countries, so it's only natural they're not panicked as much we are.

Lot of people in India are poor, uneducated and have no access to information.  Once COVID 19 takes hold it will spread like wildfire.  Lot of people will die without ever reaching hospital.  Others will starve as businesses close and the workers are just turfed on the street without money or roof over thei head.  I doubt these people are particularly vigorous.

What a childish post. So anyone who doesn't agree with your indifference to the suffering of others is on the outrage bus. People are worried not only about the dying but those who are critical. Those who are critical can't breathe and on ventilators and here's you posting pictures of buses because someone has dared to disagree woith you. Childish trollish behaviour. Grow up

Re: Where Australia stands at present with COVID-19

While I'm not going to mention the countries I am thinking of, I am disturbed by my suspicion that some countries are probably shooting people who are infected. I'm not just thinking of third world countries either. But some third world countries have abysmal medical services and conditions, I can't imagine how they are coping. Thank goodness I and my family are living in Australia.

More ppl starved to death under the British Raj (millions) than will ever die from Covid 19.

I think you'd be surprised that modern India is quite prosperous and it's people are very well educated. Probably better than ours.

I think it's rather the other way round.

Just because I don't agree with some posters here doesn't mean I'm indifferent to the disease, and I certainly don't deserve to be called rude names for voicing my opinion.
