Catholics have always been allowed to remarry after divorcing.......there are and always have been, ways of doing so.

That - perhaps - is only since the Catholic Church granted anyone a divorce.

The Catholic Church does not grant divorces. That's a civil matter.

My late mother was RC and divorced, she was refused permission to re marry in an RC church, I am also RC and wanted to re marry in the local RC church, permission was refused .... so they have NOT always been allowed

One way to be allowed to re-marry in the Catholic church, you had to apply to the church to have your previous RC marriage anulled....

well, thats what my cousins' husband had to do, so that they could get married in the RC church.
His previous marriage was for 13yrs and produced 3 kids. I dont think its right. (JMO)

You could also do it if you did not marry in the RC Church the first time.

Annulments declare that a marriage was never a valid sacrament in the first place even if both parties entered into it with good faith and intentions.

The RC seems to make up the rules to suit itself .... one of the most corrupt denominations around

I have never understood that about the Catholic Church, if you basically deny the existance of your previous family, you can marry again and have our blessing.

Civil divorce ends a civil marriage; a Church annulment declares that the Sacrament of Matrimony didn’t occur

One is approved by the church, the other by the state .... the RC church "bends" the rules to suit itself lol
