Bella, you are so right. I have a Simpson washer that I bought for a steal off the Good Guys three years ago and it is excellent (so long as I keep the water level on "auto sense" and press the Normal/Heavy button not Heavy wash, otherwise it stalls). I went for a 9kilo top loader that was not water efficient, in that it uses more water than any other washer on the market, that's what I wanted. I hate those front loaders that use two drops of water to clean, the more water, the better.
I hasten to add, this is the only appliance I have bought that I have never had problems with. I do have a 60 inch LG plasma that seems to work okay but it's less than two years old, so we shall see. Buying anything today without an extended warranty, is playing Russian roulett IMO.
Slightly off topic, but I also think the standard in food has gone down, particularly in the last 7 years. Perhaps it's the increased population and farming methods that have led to the change but I feel the taste of food isn't quite right - less fresh, more chemicals. Even old faithful brands like Cadbury chocolate taste blah compared to a decade ago. When I eat some foods, I actually feel like I'm being poisoned and cafe, restuarants are no better. I did have a great Nasi Goreng in a cheapo takeaway in Mornington several months ago. My first good meal in a restauarant in 3 years, and that includes pricey joints. Good food 100 years ago must have tasted fantastic.
