Yep. American gun laws sure are neat.

A country where evryone has a right to be armed. Including those with a criminal history.

The ease in which things like this happen doesn't seem to worry them does it?

Yep. American gun laws sure are neat.

so we have a sydney morning herald link

a uni link

and you tube

I know which ones I would believe first. You tube is not a news site. I could video my dog and do a voice over, doesnt mean my dog talks. Pick real sites to link at least?

Yep. American gun laws sure are neat.

Given that the average human bean shouldn't be allowed a water pistol, the idea of every man and his dog armed makes me shudder.

I love these gun threads. You Aussies give me hope for humanity. I'm an American, and the powerful and uncompromising gun culture here just blows my mind away.

Don't get too carried away,

The US is at one end of the spectrum ans Australia is at the other end

Just as there area pro gun zealots in the US so there are anti gun zealots in Australia

Some anti gun fanatics would advocate the total ban of firearms in this country, they have obviously not thought it through enough.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

In the wake of the massacres this year at a Colorado movie theater, a Sikh temple in Wisconsin, and Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, we set out to track mass shootings in the United States over the last 30 years. We identified and analyzed 62 of them, and one striking pattern in the data is this: In not a single case was the killing stopped by a civilian using a gun. And in other recent (but less lethal) rampages in which armed civilians attempted to intervene, those civilians not only failed to stop the shooter but also were gravely wounded or killed

Australians have thought it through and the majority don't want guns in society.PM Howard's anti gun laws did not equate to a voter backlash at the polls.Still, there's Mogadishu,Aleppo,Tikrit,Juarez,Caracas or the favelas of Rio.Plenty of guns there. They must be the safest places on earth. You might be happier there. ๐Ÿ™‚

Emotive language.

Some fair and rational people have thought it through and would see gun licences issued only to those who can demonstrate a need to own them. (A desire will not suffice).

There are pro-gun people everywhere, but why would any rational person want more guns in the ownership of citizens who don't actually need them? ( but who maybe want them so as to be able to practise their Robert de Niro impersonations at home in the privacy of their own bedrooms?)

Guns are built in order to cause death. it's their primary purpose; their raison d'etre.

it's a  subversion from  their primary purpose to treat guns as playthings to sport or disport with.

(and you know what we do with subversives, don't you?) ๐Ÿ˜‰
