do you remember a time when it was a better place to live

I remember when news agents had a stand out the front

with Papers under a rock

You took a Paper and left the money on the stand

Now days they would steal the money, the papers and the stand

and throw the rock through the window as they were running away

Sorry I haven't had time to read back all the posts.

What I do remember is that Hawk had a thread similar to this and a certain smiling assassin (who no longer posts here) continually sniped at it.

Much as there are people sniping on this one.

I think the memory I cherish from that time was the everyone had the means to make their own living, there was plenty of work. Young couples could aspire to buying their own home without young mums having to give up their babies to daycare to help pay for the mortgage.

Have not seen Pecks Paste in our Supermarket. My kids used to love Devilled Ham paste on toast and Fritz for School lunch. vegemite and cheddar cheese and peanut butter and jam.

Every Friday was treat day, fish and chips for dinner.
