do you remember a time when it was a better place to live

I remember when news agents had a stand out the front

with Papers under a rock

You took a Paper and left the money on the stand

Now days they would steal the money, the papers and the stand

and throw the rock through the window as they were running away

LOL memories. Arndale was my shopping centre...

Did you go to my school I wonder?

We moved around a lot Smiley Sad But I at least got to spend all of my high school years at the same school.

I've lost the plot on this thread but I remember buying mum's smokes. Wouldn't happen today.

A packet of Escort or Viscount for 34c and I used to get 20c bank money.

I have had to go to the service desk at the supermarket a  couple of times recently (overcharged, and get a refund on item I bought).

Vic, why would you post this comment?  It was posted in reply to another vile post.  You know which.

Even someone who did not know anything about someone would realise that a one parent family, already ostracised by society,  would be anxious to meet up with others for the sake of the children, as well as having other adults in the same position to talk to.

I was not looking for myself, but much more inportantly, looking for male role models for my children.  Other one parent families were also.  Remember divorced families were extremely rare in that era.

I am curious as to why you, knowing a little about my circumstances from my posts, would post such a nasty comment.  Do you not think before you post?  Do you do it to be mates with other posters of like mind?   Wouldn't you consider yourself better than the other person?

I would appreciate an answer, if you have the intestinal fortitude.

It is not surprising that there has been no answer.

In my opinion, someone who whoops it up with the bile of another poster is trying to validate themselves in some sort of way.

They have very low self worth and very low self esteem.

I still wear ripples. Made by Rossi boots now. Last pair I bought about six years ago cost $190. Ripples were originally made by Slatters in Adelaide and you could buy a pair of seconds in 1990 for $40 but a pair of Slatters ripples never lasted six years. I also would go to the factory outlet for Levi (made in Adelaide too) a get a pair of seconds their for $20. $100 for Levis made in Pakistan now

No, I wear them nearly every day. I'm amazed myself. I did just have them stitched up by the local cobbler but that's because I clean them with a wire brush and wore the original stitching away
