quiting smoking

Have been a 20 pack a day smoker

For nearly 40 years and stopped cold turkey

On Monday

So have made it 4 days without a smoke

Feel like I am going crazy

And don't want to go near a shop for a while

Until I feel safe to avoid the impulse to buy

A packet

Not easy that's for sure

Good morning Op, hope your day has started off well and the dread of craving is not getting too much. What I had as well whilst quiting was, the quit line rang me every day to encourage me in my struggle to beat the addiction.

After reading alot of the great comments on here I wish I'd  thought of starting a thread and getting all the positive encouragement you have got, much better than the quit line.

Re: quiting smoking

Hello hello........I can't see you ever smoking again Opmania and I hope you're happy with your success !

I will finish reading the book sometime today.  I want to be as successful as you, so I'm taking the time to really absorb and understand everything written.  There is a FINAL cigarette to be had as a ritual of sorts and once that has happened I will post on here.

I don't know if I've already posted this but my main reason to quit is the control that nicotine has and I want to be able to go anywhere I like, for as long as I like without longing for the moment I can have a fix.

Also, my last cervical spine xray had an "accidental finding" of Thickening of the Lung Lining.......have had a CT scan and am waiting for the results atm.  This is one of the few conditions that aren't caused from smoking !  Crazy !  but eventhough it isn't from smoking, I'm sure NOT smoking can only be beneficial.

Hope you're enjoying filling your lungs with fresh clean air !
