quiting smoking

Have been a 20 pack a day smoker

For nearly 40 years and stopped cold turkey

On Monday

So have made it 4 days without a smoke

Feel like I am going crazy

And don't want to go near a shop for a while

Until I feel safe to avoid the impulse to buy

A packet

Not easy that's for sure

Re: quiting smoking

Thanks nic.    Better now.     No oxygen but I have a nebuliser when it's bad.

Haven't had any trouble for years.  I think it may be a reaction

to new medication.  If it is, then there's nothing can be done for now

Looks like you're a winner, opmania. But keep your guard up.

The Samurai had a saying. "After a battle, tighten your helmet strings".

Re: quiting smoking

Hello all ,

well, had my final cigqrette yesterday !!!! WOO HOOO.....I'm not irritable, cranky or craving.....just find myself reaching for my tobacco pouch now and then hahahaa..

I think it has to do with the book I read, when I've tried (pathetically) in the past it was about giving them up and now it's about gaining freedom.

I may get cravings, who knows but for now I'm happy......I also smoked for 40 years....so stupid.

anyway hope you're doing well Opania, certainly sounds like you are....did you notice any difference with your taste buds during last nights dinner?

Re: quiting smoking

Yes, throw away your tobacco pouch, Soul, but keep the book handy.

I found, during the first few weeks, that it helped sometimes to reread the odd paragraph or any chapter that particularly resonated with you.

Great job, both of you.
