the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

This is a thread with no particular

Topic so no one can be off topic ๐Ÿ™‚

So if anyone out there has something

To say about anything you like now

Is your chance

Keep it clean

And be nice

See how long that lasts

Can we keep politics and religion out

Of the conversation

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

There was some leftover macaroni on the table, this morning.

Was...

Briefly... ha ha...

Mother crow had a great time playing "How many pieces of macaroni can I fit in my beak before I can't pick up any more...?", ha ha.

Father crow was busy at the other end of the table dunking bits of bread in the birdbath.

With a crow at either end of the table, all the other birds were left standing around on the bridges, patiently...

Well... patiently might be an overstatement... ha ha.

To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of cat what dreams may come...

If they're going to give me a typo worth making fun of, then I'll make fun of it... ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

One of the older currawongs was up in the tree...

I got it's attention by holding up a piece of bread...

"Yes, I can see that piece of bread", says the currawong...

I gesture to it - I'll throw it over there... then throw the bread...

"Okay", says the currawong "I'll jump down onto the ground and grab it, now...", ha ha.

It's a sort of hand feeding, but done at a distance of four or five feet, ha ha.

There was a cockatoo sitting on the pergola bridge, and a currawong sitting not too far away from it...

The cockatoo put on it's best "Can I have a piece of bread?" lean forward with a cute tilt of the head act...

So I gave it a piece of bread, ha ha.

The currawong watched us both, then tilted it's head to one side, and leant forward... ha ha.

I held out a piece of bread for it...

It hesitated for a moment, then snatched the piece of bread away and ran off...

That's not too bad for a bird that is naturally quite timid.

I was impressed by the way it mimicked the cockatoo, though, ha ha.

They learn very fast...

They'll be here through the end of the Winter, until the Summer gets too hot for them, then they'll head back to the alps, and stay there until the worst of the snows come.

And I better have some bread on hand, when that happens, ha ha.

They'll eat anything - there isn't a berry bush or an earthworm that isn't safe, ha ha.

I have a long running joke with myself that I should leave the lid off the compost bin, and see how they fare with that, ha ha.

Or pull the shell off it, and leave them with a mound of who knows what, that they can happily demolish.

It's the ultimate in lazy gardening - get the currawongs in to do the hard work of spreading the compost out for me, ha ha.

The cockatoo on the right is showing one of their favourite gestures - Bring it here, bring it here, so that I might grab hold of it and then refuse to let go because it's mIne!  Ha ha.

Re: the nothing ,anything ,everything thread

The breakfast platform is, essentially, a square.

One half of the "square" is taken up with food, the other half is possum space.

Takeaway sits down on the empty half of the square, and starts eating...

Little Zoo slides off her shoulder, and onto the platform...

But not on the food side of Mum, no... ha ha.

She has to stick her head under Mum's chin in order to grab a piece of bread...

While Mum's attempting to eat...

I think, tomorrow, if I remember, I'm going to put a piece of bread where Zoo can't miss it...

Just so that she can ignore it, and clamber under Mum to get a piece for herself, ha ha.
