Re: will someone please turn down the heat

The sheet idea is good but it's even better if you wet a towel (it stays wet longer), add a wet facewasher over your eyes/forehead and direct the fan on to your body.  Might have to get up a couple of times during the night but at least you keep cooler.

We haven't had our hot days yet, well I guess a couple of weeks ago it was a bit warm for a couple of days but nothing really blerk.

Re: will someone please turn down the heat

I don't usually mind the hot weather but here in Melbourne, we've hardly had any warm days up until now and they are really warm days lol.

I like to acclimatize a bit first before being thrown into the deep end. It's a bit of a shock to the system.

I am using some of Karen's tips

Re: will someone please turn down the heat

Same here, PH...my mum taught me that trick 🙂

I bought a thing on eBay for the heat, a few years ago. It's like a material tube filled with those water crystal things....you soak it in water and it stays cool for hours, around your neck. I had to stop using it because I couldn't work out how to wash it...also, a sarong is easier.

Re: will someone please turn down the heat

I gave Deb kudos for being confident enough to follow my loony hot weather tricks 😄

Another trick is to put the garden hand hose spray thing on "mist"...it only requires the slightest amount of water (but I do get the occasional glare lol) and prop it up on the lawn upwind of where you like to sit...OMG..it's like an outdoor air conditioner, just perfect. The birds like swooping through it, too.

If you wear your wet sarong over your head and a water tube around your neck, the passers by will be too chicken to glare lol.

Lol I haven't worn a wet sarong over my head yet but I've got curly hair from wetting it constantly

Re: will someone please turn down the heat

Just drape it over your head, Deb 😄 I learned that trick in Rajasthan...they have lots of low water, hot weather tricks.

Re: will someone please turn down the heat

That's it isn't it? We don't get a chance to acclimatise because the weather is so changeable here.

Thanks Karen, will use some of your tips..

Deb, going from coolish days to days like this in one go, is just too much for me.........what happened to warming up gradually?
